Relationship Status:

About Me:
I'm very much the family guy these days. I'm married to a wonderful woman from New Zealand named Sophie (to her credit, Soph's never seen me as anything but handsome and strong - never a problem to hear). We are blessed with 2 beautiful girls, Florence (5 yo) and Scarlett (2.5), and live outside New York City.

I've had Alopecia in some form since I was 8 (now 44) - started with a spot, then a patch, then went everything else (tho i seem to get spurts every once in a while). My kids haven't shown any signs of AA at this point, though my little Scarlett has pretty bad eczema. Can't say that part of the equation doesn't scare the heck out of me, but then I remind myself - again - that it's just hair, and they'll be just fine like I was.

Looking forward to connecting and making some new friends...
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?

Hi John ,

I'm writing to you because I will be having a program at my school "What is Beautiful" and we'll be discussing the many lengths that women/ men have gone to achieve what is beautiful according to society. We will show quick clips and then have a panel consisting of Rutgers students and people with alopecia. (I'm still not too sure if I will be on the panel...im still kinda shy about it) Would be interested in participating or know of anyone that is around the NJ area that would like to participate?

Date: April 21st @9:15pm
Location: Rutgers University, New Brunwsick, NJ 08901
Student Activities Center

Please let me know as soon as you can:)
Thanks
Darlenys

Hi John,
I would love to hear about the NJ group. My son who is 10 has AA and would love to meet other boys with alopecia. We live in Oak Ridge, in Morris County.

thea@baldgirlsdolunch.org for more info, too.

One Eyebrow or No Eyebrow

Interesting times these days....life's pretty great by almost any standard you can measure it, but this Alopecia thing has a way of getting in my craw every once in a while. Chalk it up to the pressure of life (yes, I'm a believer that the stress around me and in me is a major instigator for my Alopecia), and we're all feeling it somehow, but my left eyebrow all of a sudden - after a good 4 years of stability - decided to call it quits. The bigger problem in this predicament is that he didn't… Continue
