"Very interesting, Jess—thanks for sharing! FYI I took BCPs for a couple months only back about age 20 and had pretty regular periods; am just officially menopausal. I have autoimmune conditions in the form of Raynauds and a “light”…"
"I lingered as premenopausal for about 5 years (I'm 53). Last February, I was having horrible hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog and fatigued. My annual check up labs showed my estrogen levels were...gone. Almost non existent. My dr. was a bit…"
"I'm also 34 and have been dealing with this for a couple of years, so I know how bad it sucks. I also had reservations about the Plaxonil and Doxycycline. For me, it's not worth risking my sight. Fortunately, I haven't had any side…"
Hi All,I mentioned before that I get alerts when new research about FFA is published. I found this interesting, as when I was in my mid-20s, I had about 3-year period during which my period would never really stop. I was always at least spotting and often had a light to medium flow with very heavy clotting at times. Anyway, when I was finally able to get this addressed, I was prescribed a large dose of Premarin, which is used to treat menopause and low estrogen, and then put on Ortho-Tricyclen.…See More
I'm currently taking Dutasteride and using Minoxidil, which I believe has stopped or at least slowed my loss. I've had some success with Elidel, which is an immunosuppressant cream, in helping with the burning sensation.
"I also have lost all of my eyebrows. Last March, when I was still trying to figure out what was going on, my eyelashes seemed to be thinning, as well. I started using Latisse and it made a huge difference. I recently started cutting back its use in…"
"Hi Jess- I've been using Rogaine but I stopped using it on my hairline. I have some baby hairs too. Some are coarse, some are very fine, some are all by themselves and none of them lay in the same direction. Lovely. . But my hairline has also…"
Hi All,In addition to taking Dutasteride, I also use 5% minoxidil/Rogaine. At first I was using it twice a day, then once a day, and now I'm getting bad about even doing it daily. Not only was I using it on my hairline, but on the top of my head where I think there is some androgenic alopecia, which isn't very bad and may just be typical with increased age.Anyway, I have noticed that a couple of baby hairs that have come in around my temples are thick, coarse, and dark. Dare I say pubic…See More
"Hi Pauliegirl, I have also been on Finasteride 2.5 for the last six months (plus topical Minoxidil), having been diagnosed about 12 months ago. I actually stopped both for six weeks or so until recently, just in case it was affecting another…"
"I'm checking out some of the side effects, and they do make me a little wary. I realize most of them are pretty rare, but the excessive bone growth, particularly of the face freaks me out.
I also read that dryness of the skin, lips, and eyes is…"
"Jess, I started the accutane 20 last Friday. No dryness issues but I already take good care of my body skin with EO’s and drink plenty of water. Anyways, it seems that things are pretty quiet at the top of my forehead which is where I’ve…"
