About Me:
I've been recently diagnosed with androgenic alopecia at age 30. I always thought it was just stress- but apparently it's more. I just finished graduate school and have a master's degree in counseling psychology. I was offerened a job at my internship so I decided to stay in Seattle. I'm originally from the midwest and I'm kinda lonely out here in Seattle as my family is still in the midwest. I'm trying my best to keep my chin up and look at the positives in life. I'm really glad to see I'm not the only one out here struggling with hair loss. I look forward to meeting all of you!
Do you have alopecia?
Female pattern baldness
Are you age 18 or older?

The horrors of getting a hair cut when you're so close to bald

So, I still have enough hair that I'm not wearing a wig or topper as of yet. But, trust me that my scalp is VERY easy to see at the right angle in the right light. I hold my hair up and I can see my entire scalp from the front to the back of my head. Strangely enough I'm beginning to accept it.

I knew I had to get a haircut- I had split ends and it was looking shaggy. I took 3 of my anxiety pills and went into the salon. I had a hat on, and before I took the hat off, I told her that… Continue

Hi Ladies (and men)-

My name is Jennifer and I’ve recently been diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. I just turned 30, I’m single, and horrified. I’ve noticed my hair falling out off and on for about 5 years now. I figured it was stress since the shedding seemed to coincide with major stressors in my life (several moves to different states, grad school, family problems etc). The last 6 months it’s gotten significantly worse, my scalp is showing and I’m obsessed with wearing my hair in… Continue

Thanks! That's cool that you're from Iowa! I have lived in Iowa all my life. Grew up in the southeast central part of Iowa and now live in the Northwest. The winters get a little long, but spring is coming! :)

Hi Jennifer, My friend request went on to you before I could add a little message. I have severe Androgenetic Alopecia, I have been battling it for years. I shaved what little I had left late last summer after a wig salon told me I didn't have enough to hold any kind of fall or topper. I lost almost all my hair on the left side of my head right before our son's wedding! This site is awesome, lots of friendly people who know what we are going through! Take care! Christy
