"Jarod-- I would definitely suggest trying to go to a nutritionist or someone who practices oriental medicine, etc. I grew all of my hair back and it was directly related to diet. Part of it was problems in the gut even though I had no idea I had any…"
"Hi Shelley! Sorry to hear about your daughter, but the earlier you catch it the better. Go see an oriental medicine practicer/homeopath/nutritionist who has successfully grown people's hair back. That's what I did and I have a full head of…"
"Awesome! Not sure exactly which one you read, but keep in mind it might not be gluten that's your problem. Seek out a nutritionist/oriental medicine practitioner if you're really into doing it. I haven't lost any of my hair since…"
"I feel the sameeeeeeeeee way. I'm such a spazz when a guy goes for my hair. We just have to remember that we're not frauds... we're dealing with our situation as best and as normally as we can. People wear push up bras, go tanning,…"
"When I was going through losing my hair, I was sometimes angry at things my mom said or did. But, little did I know, she was hurting just as much as I was because of how much she loves me. It pains your mom to hear you cry on the phone (not that you…"
"Definitely not harsh. When I have whined (I admit I have done this haha) to my friends in the past about boy situations, they tell me that the right guy won't care... but they don't say it negatively that I'm worrying too much. My…"
"E SKi, thanks so much for your response. I will now have something more to google and research. Problem of course is always could I even afford to go that route anyway, being unemployed for what seems like forever. That's another topic in…"
I'm 22 years old and have been dealing with AA. I lost all of my hair in December 2007 (my freshman year of college). Summer before sophomore year I got turned onto an oriental medicine/homeopath/nutritionist, who helped me slowly but surely grow my hair back. I finally went wig-less May 2011. I did not quite stick to the program, and now in November 2011 I've got some serious patches. Getting back on the horse and hopefully regaining what I've lost!
E SKi, thanks so much for your response. I will now have something more to google and research. Problem of course is always could I even afford to go that route anyway, being unemployed for what seems like forever. That's another topic in itself, such as going out for an interview "dressed for success" and feeling like my "hair" is hindering my opportunities, or do I wear a wig and make them wonder ..ok, like I say, a whole other topic, right? I know, everybody's reasons for hair loss are different, so how dare so many drs. just jump to the easy answer...it is stress ?
Yes there are other's that have it way worse! When I get on to this site, I see that because I have it pretty good right now. I hide mine very well & a lot of my close friends don't even know I have hair loss. I just got started getting the steroid injections on a regular basis less than a year ago. It has really helped my situation along with doing meds @ home. I am going to check into what you suggested. Thanks!
E Ski...Hello, just found your page. What type of oriental homeopathic things do you do/try/use? I have a friend who keeps telling me to go that route, but I know nothing about it. He says going to a dr. is a waste of my money. Dr. says it is just stress...geez, I am not THAT stressed!! We all have stress!! Derm. gives me no verdict after the laundry list of bloodwork I did. Now on thryoid meds, as I told dr. maybe thyroid..but even still, it wasn't THAT bad...And no hair is regrowing, but still falling out. Been the Nioxin route, biotin, vitamin B, nothing helps. Please let me know something. Thanks so much.
Hey! As you can tell, I don't get on here very often! It just about depresses me more than it helps but there are some things that encourage me! I have delt w/ AA since I was in my early 20's & I am now 36. I started going 1 time a month to get the steroid injections but I am like everyone else, it is a never ending battle! You win some & loose some. I am starting to thin on the top which that is a hard area to hide. I am in a stressed/depressed state right now which I know that doesn't help but I just want to be normal! I am willing to try anything to help!
