I'm grateful for many things. It could be much worse.. turn on the tv news station for a few minutes and you get the idea: or a Jerry Springer show.. when I watch some guests on that show - sometimes my problems don't appear to be that bad :) I'm ki…
Hi Guys, I thought we could start a group to document the nice things that happens in our lives, whatever small it could be, if it makes you happy then share it, we are like members of the same family and we will be happy for each other.
I've had Alopecia Universalis since approximately 1993. Since then I have lived with it and have become quite used to it. I have had the people who insist on staring, gawking etc.. but I can deal with it :)
At times I do wish think about having hair again. However at this point in life -- there are more important things :)
Alopecia made me very independent. As a result I have a lot of hobbies that keep me busy. I've been fortunate to live abroad and travel for a few years. I have seen some amazing sites / cultures and have enjoyed :)
I take it day by day -- set my goals of what I want -- and do it.. Alopecia didn't put me in a wheel chair.. :)
A few things Alopecia didn't stop me from doing:
- playing guitar and drums
- snowboarding / windsurfing / skateboarding
- getting a cool job in the gaming industry
- travelling:
- Trekking in the rain forest of South America
- Driving a jeep up Mt. Aetna
- London, Amsterdam, Greece, Spain and other amazing
countries / cities.
These are just a few things that keep me busy.... :)
I know many of you have had this illness for a while now. Sometimes you feel like you've become an authority. Well, like many others who've spent years in their particular industry -- you've all become SMB (subject matter experts) in your field of Alopecia. :)

hi Drakes i have not been online much lately that is a very cool photo of samuel jackson he is such a great actor i liked the movie snakes on a plane and when he was in the deep blue sea that sure was a mean shark!
Hi Drakes, yeah I've got a number of balaclavas for the snow sports and I wore that a couple weeks ago, got away with it because it was bitterly cold. I have a skull cap now. I actually wore my wig last weekend with a skull cap over top of that and then my helmet over top. It was ok for the day, kept my head warm for sure, but I really wouldn't want to beat up my wig doing that every weekend. My big thing is that I wear a long-ish wig and was hoping to keep up appearances during and apre ski. I'm looking into something... will let ya know how it goes. Thanks again for the ideas!!
