Hi Deanna,
I'm glad to hear about the regrowth. Gracie has no active spots and all her old spots have filled in (one took almost a year). She is looking really good, though her hair is all sorts of lengths, lol! I too keep waiting--daily--for more spots to show up. It is maddening, but I am TRYING to accept it how it is for right now, that is all you can do, right? Your girls are super cute!! I cannot imagine 2 2 year old girls!! We are nearing the end of the twos, and whew, it was a year to remember!!!

Hi Deanna,

Your pictures of your kids are beautiful, hair or no hair. Has your daughter had Alopecia for very long? I'm glad your daughter is coping well, and you are right that she is probally too young to let it bother her. My son started losing his hair at age 5 turning 6. He has had such a great attitude, as long as it doesn't disrupt his play time, he is ok with it.
Nice to know that we are not alone in Kelowna. It would be great to stay in touch, and see how our children progress with this as they get older. Sabina

Hey Deanna,
Thank you! That really means a lot. <3
So.. um.. I live in Moncton! That is so weirddd!!!
I am leaving for university in August though.
I know of a few people with alopecia around here and
close to here. I'm not sure about the support groups, but I can
ask my mom, she would know.

Hi Deanna
Hope you had a nice Christmas and New Year.
I had never heard of Alopecia either until my son got it. It is especially sad when a 16month old gets it i think.
You are right kids can be cruel. Alot of my Jon's problem is how he felt about himself. We are slowly getting somewhere though I think. We are trying to build up his self esteem.
The thing is for them to learn that they can do anything or be the person they want to be. That appearance doesn't matter, because we are all different aren't we? Ensuring that she has good supportive friends is something to watch out for too.
I am sure that you will give her the strength and confidence she needs. The fact that you are here and trying to find answers and getting support is a good step and shows that you are a good and caring parent.
Be positive
