Eyebrow and Eyelash Help

Hi all! It's been a while since I posted. Treatment failed, though I feel so good compared to while I was on the medication it almost makes up for that.I am loosing everything. Currently I am concerned about my eyelashes and eyebrows. I have found some good eyeshadow colors for my eyebrows and am becoming an excellent freestyle artist if I do say so myself. I do have stencils for when I loose my last few hairs and I also have clear jell to help set them. But is there anything better product…See More

What I Learned & What to Do

So I went to the doctor. He said the cyclosporine pills are taken twice a day. The biggest side affects for me to worry about are nausea and headaches. There are even larger side affects possible which is why you are monitored at least every month while on the drugs. It is a six month regimen. At about the four month mark you know if it will do anything at all, but many (I don't know percentages) have their hair fall out afterwards and you have it all to do over again. As for the drug, generic…See More

My New Look

Posted on April 16, 2011 at 1:55pm 4 Comments

I have gotten to the point where I was frustrated with my hair. It was getting more and more difficult to hide my holes. My pony-tail was about half the size it once was. I would have cut my poor scraggly hair months ago but I wasn't sure what to do about it. So I decided to bite the bullet. On Wednesday I went wig shopping and found something that looks like me. Who knew red highlights were my thing^^; Then last night I had my hair cut really short. Now as my hair falls out it will be much… Continue

Hi and where I am at

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 4:38pm 4 Comments

Hi everyone, I am Cynthia or Cindy for short. I love books, so it is no surprise I am a librarian^^;

I probably had Alopecia starting late last December or very early this January. I have had three appointments with the dermatologist so far. We did steroid shots the first two times. Not fun, and they haven't helped. I have probably lost 1/4 to 1/3 of my hair since January. I have recently started wearing scarves, headbands, and hats full time. This could easily change soon since my… Continue

Hi Cindy, welcome to Alopecia World!

Hey, maybe you can help me? I need to pick an e-book reader, and I'm a geek, so I'm overwhelmed by the possibilities. Kindle, Nook, Sony, generic 7" Android tablet... I've starved my brain of reading too long (carry a bag with too much stuff, paper books got squeezed out).

Any advice, or are you strictly an ink-on-paper sort of person?
