Since they located the gene my mom has been telling me how sure she was that it wouldn't be too long until a cure was found .. I was recently told that it was on the news that rats were recently cured of alopecia.. I've been trying to find an article on line but no luck yet.. Am I the only one that thinks that's huge?! :)

- Hi I'm Brittany!
I'm 19 years old. I live in Brooklyn, NY but I attend Mount Saint Mary College, where I play softball and major in Communications. I've had alopecia since I was five years old and I try to accept it and live with it instead of letting it get the best of me. I don't tell everyone about my hair because I'd rather be known as a regular person, than to be known as the girl with Alopecia. Right now I'm recieving steroid injections in my head that is helping the regrowth process. I'm able to hide the spots as of now. Two years ago it was at a point where I had to wear a hair piece that I was so self concious/embarassed about. I'm beyong greatful that my hair is at a point where I no longer have to wear it. As soon as I got it off I died my hair blond, which is something I've always wanted to do. I wear hair extentions to make my hair look fuller. I'm very happy with what I've got now. I've learned to be greatful because I know first hand it can always get worse. I've learned to laugh through everything. I always joke about my hair with my family and friends. I have a great sense of humor that I am very thankful for.
If anyone wants to talk I'd be more than happy to. It would be nice to have a friend that knows and understands what I'm going through. :]

Is it as mind boggling to others as it is to me that there is still no cure for something simple as growing hair? :(

- ooo cool...i never heard of doing that with your hair...but then again ive pretty much given up on new ways to get my hair back to the way it was. i tried EVERyTHING when i was younger and none of it worked for me, so screw it lol i hope that works for you though!
my friends played on the panthers...i think...i know they played on some travel team lol....idk if you know them, Katie Tierney and Megan Fitzgerald....it could be the wrong team i dont really know haha...i go to villa where do you go?

- Hey Brittany! I'm from Staten Island. whats up?...I know exactly what you're going through. I've been feeling the same way lately. I've been completely bald since I was about 10 and I remember being so stressed out. Now more than ever, it's really bothering me. It was never an issue. I didn't mind being bald, but all of a sudden it's been really rough. It has to get better soon for both of us.
