Diagnosis change

At 28, I was diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia, but it didn't show enough until I hit my 40's. I am 55 now and being told I don't have AGA, but something else. I suspect Alopecia Areata Incognita, my thinning is diffuse, but more noticeable at the top of my head. Is it worth the biopsy?  My labwork otherwise is normal and no family history of baldness for the past 3 generations.I suspect I have a generalized autoimmune disease, but I can't get my doctors to listen.
