Looks like we are going to buzz Bray's head over the holidays.  This last bout of AA that hit in Nov was more severe than the last episode.  Bray's teachers at 4k are very supportive of us.  That makes a world of difference.  Last time his hair grew back very nicely but I know AA is unpredictable.  It seems it did very well in summer, so we have some time to wait here in WI.  Bray does not seem to mind one way or another right now.

I do not know about steroids for children with AA, however, I swear by the kenalog shots to the scalp. Once or twice a year, for the last 15 or so, I will notice a spot starting. Falls out fast, quarter size by the time I notice and I rush to my…

Hi Angie,

This a definitely a challenging condition.. It does get easier as time goes on and you get feedback from other parents on how they cope well with it. It is such a worry for how our kids will manage, but overwhelmingly the families that learn about the condition, like you are, so they can explain it openly to others do the very best in raising normal and exceptionally solid children.

Please contact the Childrensalopeciaproject.org for more support. Their annual conference for parents and children is coming up this summer. If you filter for alopeciapalooza or CAP in the search box top right on all the AW pages, you'll find messages from parents who have attended. Also, the group "Parents with Children" will be another good resource.
