Been bald for half a year now

Well, it's been a while since I last blogged. Last September I decided to shave my head as my hair loss showed no indication of slowing down, or growing back. It was the best thing I have ever done, and I don't look back. I have a new man in my life who has shown me nothing but love and respect. I have great friends around that support me and actually prefer me bald hahaha. I have just recently uploaded the videos I had taken with a group of friends on the night of the shave. My second time round ... with a specialist

I went back to see my specialist today.
I first saw him about 6 weeks ago and received some cortisone injections in and around my bald patches, which he described as chronic. CHRONIC - that word to me sounds pretty bad, and didn't really stir any confidence in me.
So I go back today, to see how I'm going. I know how I'm going, I'm still losing hair, a lot of hair, there's a little bit of regrowth - due to the cortisone? I don't know.
So he sees the regrowth and is quite certain… Continue

I went to a friend's house party on Saturday night. I was umming and aaahhing about going, really not sure if I wanted to go or not. I have so much uni work to do, and .. well what about my hair? Eoin (pronounced Owen) my partner convinced me it would be a good idea, as I haven't seen my friends in a long time - due to my hiding, and being overwhelmed with uni assignments. I'm a newly 'initiated' alopecian - obviously still using humor to disguise my absolute terror.
It started with one patch march '07 within a 4 or 5 months the hair stopped falling out and started growing back slowly. Yet April/May '08 I discovered a new baldy patch. So I thought "great, oh well, it'll grow back " 4 months later the patch is now HUUUUUUUUUUGEEEEEE and rapidly growing and another patch has surfaced which is growing day by day. I've seeked different treatments with no success… Continue

I'm a primary school teacher, and worry what people will say if I suddenly start wearing wigs to work (there are a group of young women working here who are very bitchy and constantly talk about people behind their backs, and who are obsessed with their hair/makeup/nails etc).
But it is just progressing fast at the moment, and I really don't have much hair left, so I'm wondering if I should be brave, and just get rid of it all!
Are you still receiving treatment? I've been going to the same doctor for 14 years, and he has managed to keep it at bay until now, not sure what has triggered it.
Feeling very fed up with it all.

kimberly dean said… - Hi Andrea. Just wondering if you think anything might have triggered your alopecia? For me, I think it was not following hair dye instructions properly, as straight after my hair started falling in chunks.
Also, do you know the brand and colour of the short, red wig you are wearing in a photo on here? It's really funky, I want one!!!

I think your bald head looks really good, it actually suits you and shows off your beautiful face. I also liked the look of your short red wig on you, very spunky and cool. I wish I had your confidence to go out bald in public occasionally, especially to the beach.

- hey so inspired by your video plus my bf's been so awesome and totally encouraging. He's gonna be shaving my head today!! Am nervous but looking forward to it. I'm still pursuing treatment but its such a bother having this in between type hair. I don't think I have that courage yet to walk around bald but I love being able to play with all my wigs :)
