I was wondering if anyone has seen this. Apparently, some Woman with AU had a Chest infection and used a steroid and it ended up curing her AU. Heres the story, its from Augest 12, 2014.

Hi DJ88,
Unfortunately this is not news. Its actually funny that the newspapers are making out like this is some miracle. I bet the next news article will read " eating food cures hunger" a miracle!!
Using steroids is nothing new for alopecia and has been around for decades. It is widely known that it will grow hair but will most likely fall out again once the steroids are stopped unless the immune system kick back into normal action. 90% of the time this is not the case. Additionally you can not take steroids for long periods of time because of the side effects.
I would follow the JAK inhibitor treatments with Tofacitinib Citriate and Roxalitinib these are actually hopeful new treatments.
All the best

Hello
I agree with ADML. Steroids do work to bring back hair, but unless you go into a natural remission yourself, when you stop taking them the hair falls out once again.
The new treatments on the horizon are looking positive (which is great), but may be a few years until they are readily available.
