Hi everyone I just had a question - for those of you that have children that have lost all hair including eyebrows and lashes - did the brows and lashes ever come back ? My daughter is almost 2 and has lost all hair on scalp and now lashes and brows - I am dealing with it and my daughter is just as happy as ever :) I was just hoping the brows and lashes would come back - the scalp does not bother me but I have to admit i would really like to see her be able to have a more normal appearance when she gets older - people can be so rude and ask me questions about if she is on chemo on something....We take her to the mayo clinic next month so I am sure I will find out more then - but untill then I was just curious about other people experience when dealing with the return of facial hair...Thanks so much

Hi there! My son is three and did lose all of the hair on his scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes. While the hair on his scalp has not returned (he lost it when he was around a year and a half), his eyelashes did grow back (although more sparsely than before), and his eyebrows have grown back and fallen out again several times since then. His eyebrows do keep coming back, though, each time he loses them. Hope this is helpful.
Hi Leslie My daughter was 9 when she lost all her hair as well as her eyebrows and eyelashes. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are back now. It took about a year for them to return. Her hair on her head has not returned but she was really excited to get her brows and lashes back. Hope this is of some encouragement to you. We were not sure that our daughter would get anything back but she had faith that it would return. It takes alot of patience and faith. Have a blessed day. Brianna's mom Mary.
My daughter lost her all her age by age 6. Her eyebrows are growing back now and her hair has returned with treatment. She still has no lashes, but she does not seem to mind. This condition is so unpredictable that at anytime her hair can regrow. Hang in there! Cindy
Brianna and Mary,
Question. Did you have any medical treatments on the eyebrows? My son would just love to have his eyebrows back.. eyelashes would be a plus. Thanks Matthew's Mom
My 3 year old boy Max lost his brows and lashes last year and I agree with you completely ( re: appearance) . They have been growing back for 6 months now but is a very slow process. They are very light and I hope they will eventually darken. I am taking him to Boston next week and will let you know what they say. Please post any news you learn at the Mayo Clinic. Thank You. Becky Finlaw
Hi Leslie - the Irish got everywhere!! :-) my daughter's lashes grew back after about a year. They've gone dark now (took quite a few months).

Know what you mean about chemo questions. Sadly I think it's more common for kids to have chemo than to have alopecia, which is why everyone assumes. Eve brought a story back from school the other day, it started "my name is Eve and I do not have cancer." Made my laugh & cry at the same time!

take care. xx
My 5 year old was diagnosed with AA in December. Over the past 3 weeks she has started to lose her eyelashes and eyebrows. She has some minimal regrowth on the top of her head right now but all of her bottom lashes have fallen out.

How was the Mayo Clinic?
The mayo clinic went well for the most part - just confirmed she has AU and looking at AT - Since then she has lost every bit of hair she had :( I am trying to deal with it all ... they said the best treatment would be therapy...sigh
