Hi Ellen. My liver enzymes are always raised, they have been for years, every time I have a blood test. I'm always asked if I drink. I'm teetotal!

Hi Liz.

I am the same way.  My Dad was an alcoholic so I know the damage.  The doctor did not seem to believe me when I told him I hardly drink.  Very aggravating.

Ellen,
I have had elevated liver enzymes in the past as well, but had not had them checked in a long time. They were just recently checked and they were not out of range. I am coincidentally taking milk thistle since hydroxychloraquine is supposed to be hard on the liver.

I have had high liver enzymes often. In fact, my doctor took me off cholesterol medicine because liver enzymes were high. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with FFA. Always wondered if there was a connection.

Hi Houle

I also periodically have raised liver enzimes.  My bile duct has a habit of getting blocked (build up of scar tissue) and this adversely effects my liver, resulting in jaundice and general malaise.  I've just had an ERCP at Kings so hopefully my bile duct problem will be a thing of the past.  It will be interesting (and wonderful) if the FFA also improves!!

So interesting.  Years ago when I was applying for life insurance I had high liver enzymes.  They ended up charging me more for my policy than my husband's (who is six years older!).  I wonder if it was a precursor.
