Hi Debs. Hope you are well. I'm not taking any medication apart from Iron supplements, Vitamin D, Fexofenadine antihistamine and tumeric. I shall look at Dr Weil's website later. My approach to this condition is to try and de stress myself as much as possible and look after myself more.

xx

Liz you are so right, we need to reduce our stress to enhance our well being. Xx
Hi Deb,
After trying Plaquenil twice, both time with nasty side effects that ended with visits to A&E I decided to stop all oral medication... My consultant has given me Protpoic and I have used this twice but my scalp began to itch and feel sore so I da stopped this too.
I take turmeric, high dose of fish oils, multivitamin and spiralina algae.
I walk my dog daily... 30 minutes brisk walk and use my rowing machine 3 times a week... 30 minutes.
I have lost about one and a half stones since November 2013 and feel much healthier and fitter.
I wash and condition my hair in L'Oreal that helps prevent shedding... I also use oils on my hair once a week which I try and leave on over night.. This is the 60ml sweet almond oil, 2 drops clary sage, 5 drops rosemary and 3 drops ylang ylang... My aromatherapist mixed this for me... Promotes hair growth and helps prevent hair lose.
I use emotional freedom technique... Tapping... To help reduce stress, anxiety etc... Lots of videos on You Tube.
I have an acupuncture mat... Helps promote blood flow... Helps relieve stress and promotes relaxation... £12 on amazon... Again lots go videos on You Tube.
I am sooooo much happier now I am not worrying about the affects of the drugs on my body, eyes etc... If I dare say it... Back to my normal self... I feel sad about my hair lose... But not ever day.
Mandy your blend of aromatherapy oils sounds lovely. X

Your oil blend sounds lovely Mandy. I might give that a go. Can I ask both of you what dosage of tumeric and fish oils you take?

xx

I take two turmeric and two fish oil daily ;0)
Meant to say diet... Try to eat healthy balanced diet... Cook from fresh most nights... Lots of fruit, veg... Very little red meat... Lots of olive oil... Fish once or twice a week... Use low salt... Cut down on the sugar too... Do little a drink but not daily or even weekly... Just when I fancy it x

I am also not using medication.  In fact, I am going off of Nexium because I think that could be a contributor to the problem.  I take iron supplements due to low ferritin levels, Vitamin D, biotin, B12, an antihistamine (Allegra) and my doctor also recommended a multi-vitamin for those over 50.  I just started the TQI (To Quiet Inflammation) diet as outlined in Kathy Abascal's book called "The Abascal Way.  I am taking the class via the internet.  Beyond that, I am doing water Pilates at least twice a week and restorative yoga once a week.  I try to walk 30 minutes a day.  All of this is for stress relief and wellness.  I think it helps the inflammation also. If my scalp is really inflamed and itchy, I will use clobetasol for a few days.

I am trying everything possible as natural as possible. Re my naturpath, I am on 1/2 Paleo 1/2 Primal diet but not completely. I haven't reached sainthood and probably never will.  I am using Rogaine once a day as of a month ago. I take a multitude of vitamins including ginger, tumeric, krill oil, probiotic and many others.  I have just started back to the gym which I usually do 3 times a week. I feel stress contributes a great deal and of course, we all try to de-stress when possible. There are a couple of things that I have no choice but to take and that is a medication for Hi Blood Pressure and I am hypothyroid and take the natural version Dessicated thyroid. I wondered how many ladies have one or both of these afflictions. One could rip out the little hair one has trying to figure out what is the culprit.

Hi Liz, my supplements are ; TURMERIC x 2 = 400mg, GINGER x 2 = 1100mg, OMEGA 3 FISH OIL x 1 = 1360mg, WELLWOMAN 50+ vitabiotics x 1 = multivitamin and mineral

Thanks Debs. I shall get some ginger too x

I also use ginger root in my vegie juices that I make at home (Joe Cross re-boot website has lots of great recipes for juicing veg). Ginger root is very cheap to buy in tesco or any supermarket. I also chop up about half an inch and pour on boiling water to make ginger tea, a slice of lemon adds a tasty zing xxx

If you trying to go completely drug free and all natural, you might want to try tea tree oil to quiet itching and inflammation. I found it worked better for me than clobetasol, which was very irritating.
