I have had severe itching with my FFA, including in places where I don't have hair any more and places where I never had hair.

Is the itching all related to FFA or LLP?  I understand that in hair zones this means there is inflammation.

Does anyone have any treatments that relieve the itching?

Thank you

I have been so itchy, too, but not where the inflammation is in the front. More in the back of my head. I can't explain it.

Yes, I itch all over for the past few days.  I expect it will go away after a while.  I suppose it is part of the disease.  I just joined CARP and hope to get some more answers there.  thanks

The itching can be terrible.  I have use Clobetasol for it before I was allergic to it.  I have use tea tree oil.  I have used antihistamines.  Talk to your doctor. I think that sometimes a mild sedative can help too.

I tried tea tree oil this morning under my chin where it is often bad and it helped some.  I just joined CARP and am hoping I might get some more information there.  I will talk to my  Dr. next week.

Thank you

Mildred, I sometimes have itching on the bare spots where ffa has already claimed the hair as well as on the back of my neck where I've never noticed any hair loss.  Sometimes my forehead itches.  I think unexplained  itching is just part of the ffa experience for me.  I don't have a treatment to relieve the itching, but I have noticed that it lessens when I avoid dairy products.

Yes I haven't been this itchy in more than a year.  I don't know.  I will look for information ob CARP.  Like Sally , above I  tried tea tree oil just his morning and I did get some relief.   can't even tell what is normal itching and what isn't anymore

Thank you

Oh man! Just talking about it makes me itch! My head itches to some degree all the time. In addition to the FFA, my skin is very dry and itchy on the rest of my body, too. Sometimes I use liquid BHA/salacytic acid on my head, and it seems to calm down the redness and irritation. I get mine from Paula's Choice.

I have had FFA for almost three years.  I have found relief for the itching by using Elidel (pimecrolimus) cream 1%.  It is available by prescription only and it is expensive. (But, totally worth it.)  It is the only thing I have used that actually stops the itching and reduces the sores. Every other night,  I section my hair off and put the cream directly on the scalp.  (I look like the bride of Frankenstein the next morning!!).  On the other nights, I use the Clobetasol liquid. If my regime is disrupted, the itching returns.

In conjunction with this, I do receive the scalp injections every four to six weeks.  I have not been cured but I don't know how bad it might have been.

Good luck!

I have stopped all the meds from the doctors as none of them worked and after lots of research I have finally stopped all the itching, the pronounced veins and I have no more hair falling out.  For me this was definitely stress related - I have taken stress tabs - adrenaplex - milk thistle - magnesium and biotin.  Everything is really so much better - I still have inflamed enlarged whatever you want to call the follicles that are just at the top of my hairline.  I have had some good relief with argon oil and am going to try some essential oils.  I have used a rogaine like product that I have faithfully put on day and night for the last 3 months and I have had some regrowth. My eyebrows are still spotted so I will continue to hope. My arm hair is still gone but have had some regrowth of leg hair.

I get periodic bouts of itchiness on the front of my neck (what the? No hair there) and my eyebrows (what's left of them). I tried antihistamine tablets recently and that seemed to help.

It's not fun, hope you get some relief.
