First time I've heard of it today. I don't think it can regrow hair we lost, but maybe help from thinning further? My friend's hairstylist told her that a few of her clients take it and swear by it. How much more anectodal can this be??? LOL! I thought here would be a better place to find out.

I've used it off and for about 4 years. I think it does help but it's kind of expensive. I have a friend who has had hair loss but not to the degree I have and when she feels her hair is in need of a boost she goes back on Viviscal.
Yes. It gives your remaining hair a heathy boost but it doesn't seem to regrow what is lost. At least that's my impression. My friend who uses it doesn't have a diagnosed alopecia. She had extreme hormonal shifts during menopause that affected her hair.
I tried it for months and it did nothing. It does not help FFA because FFA is a scarring alopecia - permanent hair loss.

I did try Visical for a short time.  Didn't seem to do anything.

I response to other posts.  YES!  My ear was KILLING me a few months back.  Even woke me up in the middle of the night.  Never thought to connect that to FFA.  Since I've been on Plaquinel, it seems to have gone.  Thankfully!

I, too, had dry eye two years ago.  Was on a daily eye drop for about 3 months that cost $200.  It worked. I was really suffering with it.  Didn't even know I had FFA at that time, which now, I believe was in the beginning of it.

I also lost my eyebrows a few years ago.  Had them tattooed back on.

Since I have been on Placquinel, I am now noticing that my allergies have improved, my skin doesn't itch, etc. Most of all, my hair loss has stopped.  I know this is a strong medicine to be on, but I have had my eyes examined and have had lots of baseline blood tests.  Eye doctor says there is no problems with Placquinel until after you have been on it for several years.  So, I won't stay on it that long.

My doctor has me on 50,000 units of Vitamin D and says I may be on it for several years.

Funny about the sunscreen....dermatologists have been screaming for years to use it and especially on your face.  I resisted for no particular reason, but then it showed up in moisturizers and foundation make-up. So, there!  I was using.  Now I find out it may have caused FFA.  Now I'm really upset at the manufacturers and dermatologists that have pushed sunscreen.  I bet sunscreen is the cause of all types of hair loss.  Think about it.  Why are SO many people balding!?

Enough, I will pray for all of us.
