The Children'sAlopecia Project is based outside of Reading, PA. If you have not done so yet, check us out on Facebook and on our website at www.ChildrensAlopeciaProject.org

Kira is at 80% hair loss and she is losing faster than she is gaining. Her 12th Birthday is friday, and we are still looking to start a group or atleast plan a get together so she has some friends and support from others going through the same issues. So far no luck, anyone interested?

Hi! I'm from Mechanicsburg, PA (near Harrisburg). I'm new on this site after discovering (literally last weekend--it seemed to happen overnight!) that my hair has receded one and a half inch from my forehead and sides of my head. Searches on the internet pretty much tells me I have frontal fibrosing alopecia (scarring alopecia--will never grow back). I made an appt. with a dermatologist, but can't get in until August. Meanwhile, I'm flip-flopping between being depressed to making the best of this. Really need the support from this group. I haven't told ANYONE yet--even my husband. Just hoping a strong wind doesn't give me away until I find out what I'm going to do.....

Kira is still showing signs of regrowth and is happy so far! School has been tough so I can only hope the stress doesnt make her regress, but she is still happy with or without hair! My strong beautiful girl!

I havent been on in a while, so here we are :) Kira was doing better, she has lots of "baby " hairs coming in even as she loses more else where. She still is at 70% hair loss . We just noticed she has lost most of her arm and leg hair tho, so Our excitement was short lived. Now with school only a few days away, the stress of schooling and the expected teasing from new students may begin again.. We shall see I suppose. She has been using a shampoo and conditioner and drops from Sallys called Nutriox, it has alot of natural oils in it that seem to help a bit but takes atleast 6 weeks to see any signs. Kira was excited when she saw that her leg hair and arm hair was falling out she says cool! I wont have to shave haha.... She says she doesnt want any treatment she'd rather be bald and beautiful if it comes down to that. Right now although there isnt much beneath there is still some ontop that acts as a cover, and the large spots she has are tan right now lol so it blends into her blonde hair..:) .. We shall see what this year brings I suppose.:)

Have a 15 year old daughter with Alopecia, would like to find a support group for her. We are in the Philadelphia area but have family in Lancaster and spend time there also, so either area would be great!
