So i have a question for everyone. Sometime this week i started getting wierd pains in my eyes,...almost like i had small paper cuts in the edge of my eyes. Everything started to hurt my eyes,...the air, dust. My eyes have been very watery and i didnt think to much into it. I went to do my makeup and it occured to me that i have lost my lower eye lashes. Is having no lashes more painful?? i didnt want to waste my time going to the doctors if this is normal. I just went and got a pair of glasses for some protection ?? I never thought about my eye lashes until not,... i was so focused on loosing all my hair on my head,....i had to start drawing on my eye brows this week,...boy was that fun, took me like 20 minutes and they were so not even,...i need a stencil to trace or something hehehe.

If anyone here lives around Guelph, K/W or Cambridge area, there is a new support group called Palopecia. If interested, let me know and I'll send you the details. Thank you!!!

I would have to agree with Courtney. What hurts me the most was seeing my friends doing their hair to go out on a saturday night. After 20 yrs it still hurts to hear my friends say they are going to the salon to get their hair done.

after i got my large spots i started getting the steroid injections in them,...my doctor was such a jerk and didnt really talk to me, i had a bad experience with him and got really upset, i was struggling with how to feel about having alopecia. Anyway, i was doing really good with being positive and keeping my thoughts to mself when people made cancer comments, after my last injections i got upset and shaved it all, surprisingly my attitude has ben much better and i am ok with things nowe, i think alot of that has to do with talking to other people on here and stuff :) i thank you all.

Hey everyone! =)
I think the most frustrating part about all of this is watching my friends and family do their hair in the morning before work or when they're going out to special occasions, etc. I definately miss the feeling. A few years ago when I first shaved my head I still had the feeling as if there was still a ponytail tickling the back of my neck. WEIRD!!!!!!!!
Anyone from around the Niagara Region?

I agree that alopecia can be totally frustrating simply because you never know what's happening. Even though I've had alopecia all my life it has gone this way and that but I've always had some form of it. Even just recently I've been getting some growth. For me the trick is to go with the flow, if I don't get my hopes up they can't be put down. It's like I always say "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get" however if you pick one up with hair on it you throw it out!

Thank you, well i have several large bald spots on my head, it happened so quickly and then nothing,...no hair growth or no new spots. i havent lost anymore hair in about a month. Listening to everyones experience it seems like when it all goes it happens quickly. I guess nobody can tell me if it will contiune, but is there anyone who went a while and started loosing more?? Its so frustrating not knowing what is going to happen.

Hello everyone, I am Rebecca and i am from Ontario. I was recently diagnosed with AA aprox 2 months ago. It is so wonderful that there is a site like this to see that there are other people out there like me. I have not been able to find out much about Alopecia and there does not seem to be alot of research on it. I have like a thousand questions :) Im still trying to figure out how this site works, hopefully ill get to talk to someone out there at some point :)
