Hello.  My 12 1/2 year old daughter was diagnosed with allopecia two weeks ago.  The doctor started her on clobetasol solution to put on her bald patches.  Has anyone had success with this???  I feel so helpless and feel so awful for my daughter.  Middle school is hard enough without having to worry about this.  I got some great hair pieces made for her which covers her main spot (softball size) wonderfully.  I'm really hoping this steroid will help!!  Thanks so much

I use clobetasol solution on my inflamed and itchy areas. These are usually the areas where my hair falls out. My experience is that the solution jump starts hair growth. It takes a lot longer to see regrowth if I don't use it. The solution also gives me relief from the itching and pain associated with the active areas of inflammation.

I used it in conjunction with steroid shots in my head and I responded very well to it.  Since I used the clobetasol with the shots, I can't say for certain whether the clobetasol alone would have produced the same results, but I definitely believe it helped. The first time I used it, my scalp got red and irritated for awhile, but it's a small price to pay for hair regrowth. Best wishes to your daughter - I hope the clobetasol works for her!
