I am new to this site and am writing because I am frustrated and at a loss. I have lichen planopilaris and have been on multiple (!) medications. Some have worked but I've had bad side effects (hypertension), others worked for a while, then stopped, and others did nothing. My doctor put me on Xeljanz 5mg twice per day. I was on it for two months and it worked, then my insurance company refused to cover it. My doctor wrote letters, I filled out multiple forms, talked with the insurance company many times, but they have refused to cover it. Does anyone have ideas about how to get it at a more reasonable price?

Thanks in advance.

The only way is to get into a study for the drug. You can ask your doc or do research on your own to find one to apply to.

There is also a wealth of information about Xeljanz on this site if you want to take the time to read the discussions.

Finally, because of med things I have going on, my derm suggested I wait until Xeljanz topical comes out next year; lots fewer side effects.

Best of luck to you.
Hi,

Lots of people in the States (if that's where you are from) talk about xelsource. I am an Aussie so it doesn't apply to me but you could always have a look if you qualify. I'm into my first week of it and I'm determined to stay on it but it will be a big economic commitment. Good luck!
