I have 9 years whit Alopecia Areata. I have ups and downs every month. And it’s ok.

Then, last summer I started losing some eyelashes, and now I don’t have any eyelashes on my left eye. Woho! Just on my right side, but it seems that it’s going to fall off soon too. What’s the point on just loosing on one side? Clearly it’s something :p

It just didn’t seem fair! And then I went in my state of mind where it’s ok, and nothing to do whit, and I’m lucky because I don’t have cancer or have lost a limb or something.

I have always gone in this place where I’m lucky and accept things as they are, I’ve done it sins I got aa J So in my 9 years whit aa, and this Saturday was the first time I ever sign up for a community online that have the same illness. And I’m so happy that I did!

So people, help me! I need good advises on fake eyelashes, what’s good and if some of you have experience the same.

Love from the cold North! J

Hello Janita

I think when you loose facial hair it can be a terrible blow and can sometimes cause people more upset than loosing their scalp hair.  If you do a search here you will find a few threads around eyelashes and brows.

Good luck with everything.

Rosy

Thanks! yes i was a bit surprise, and it was a low blow!

I am looking around on this site to find one I like to try.

Tanks!

Janita

Hi, my hair started falling out at the beginning of January (this year) and by the end of the month I had none, now non eyelashes on my right eye and I can literally count the ones on my left...no nostril hair and very patchy eyebrows too! I hope you have luck in sourcing false eyelashes, let me know how you get on..was wondering about the difficulty of the adhesive used for them though especially if you've got sensitive skin.

Oh, im so sorry to hear! How are you doing then, that was kinda quick! I see some people recommending types of false eyelashes, so I’m going to try one type that I see many have recommended.

I will write about it when I try it, because I have sensitive skin.

Do you have wig or use some things to cover up?

 Janita

Yes I have a wig coming in the next few weeks, just an acrylic one but meanwhile I use scarves to cover my baldness up....doesn't help when people say I look great in them because given a choice I'd rather have hair but its not in my near future so gotta make the best of it. Again good luck with the false eyelashes.

oh, yeah i get that one. I hope that you'l get you'r wig soon!

And i hope that you use a good hairdresser because that wil make al the differencen for you and how you wil feel! :)

I've been having problems with my eyes now that they have no lashes..alternating between dry and itchy then weepy...has anyone else experienced this???

I haven't had the dry/itchy and weepy...but I do poke my self in the eyes A LOT.  I think I may miss my eyebrows, lashes, and especially nose hair most of all. :(

Who would've thought  lol

I

Yes. Also dirt blows in. Not much you can do except keep some eye drops on hand.

Hi Sheryl,
You mentioned the itchy eyes. My eyes and my nose weep constantly. With no hair in my nose it it so embarrassing sometimes! I always have tissues with me! When I put my eyelashes on every morning it's a challenge sometimes when my eyes are watering.
Hope this helps that you're not alone. I've been dealing with hair loss for 26 years and this is the first time I've reached out.
Take care,
Bren
My eyelashes fell out primarily all in one eye, as well, and after that happened I had to deal with a constant itch and scratch in my eye.
