Treatment for diffuse alopecia aerata: Betamethasone Valerate and pimecrolimus (Elidel)

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have not checked all previous posts. I have been Rx betamethasone valerate lotion in the morning and pimecrolimus cream at night.

I know that topical corticosteroid have shown efficacy in AA but data concerning pimecrolimus is contradictory. One study showed it was as efficacious as  a corticosteroid without the usual side effects but other studies failed to show efficacy. One reason, is that it does not penetrate the skin deep enough to block the T-lymphocytes.

Can anyone comment on this or as any experience/results in using pimecrolimus for AA ?
