An expert in Medicine told me the only definate cure for AU is Stem Cell Transplant. It involves surgery in which stem cells r taken from bone marrow & transplanted into AU affected person.
Have any of u heard about it? Did anyone try it???? Plz let me know. I want to know more detail about it.

This is a recent research which has come up in Germany only.
"Definite cure?....expert?" (where are all the success stories?)
I've never heard of Stem Cell transplant for alopecia.
Transplanting stem cells is no small, mediocre operation...it's extremely
invasive and not a clinically proven protocol of treatment for alopecia.
Just sounds completely nuts.
An expert in Medicine has told me about this cure. The result is 80% positive. The whole procedure is like stem cells r transplanted into AU patients. These cells r taken from bone marrow or umbilical cord. I myself dont know much about it thats why I wanted to know from others here.
I have not heard of this for alopecia don't they have to wipe out your immune system first to do this?
Hi

Yah I need more info on this coz this is something new & when I heard that the results r mostly positive so was more curious to know about it.
Complete remission of alopecia universalis after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

This is the only report I know about, if there are others please post them.
Stem cell transplant is a treatment for Leukemia, they are not going to offer you anytime soon
such an invasive and expensive treatment ONLY for AU.
Tks for this link
there has been a study in one medical school... in which there was a man was experimented with stem cell theapy ... it was successfully done ..... i once thought of going there ... but it require time , and lost of money ...
link already got posted above
There r risks involved too since this treatment is usually made for cancer patients.
There are several places in the US that are doing trials on this. I think they are mostly commerical vs. research organizations. One was in FL. And it wasnt a full stem cell transplant but a limited stem cell transplant to try to target only hair follicles. I read about them a couple years ago, havent seen much on it since so Im assuming it wasnt a commerical success, I dont know. There is of course the old study on the stem cell transplant who recovered from AU or whatever after his marrow transplant. That seems to make perfect sense to me given the autoimmune nature. However, most doctors are not willing to risk killing patients to regrow their hair, nor are insurance company eager to pay millions in the quest either, so those are out, but if you look up for limited transplants repost what the results were.
