Are there any designers that make silk top wigs? I just ordered a Jon Renee human hair wig but I'm second guessing the monofilament top. I've been looking for a silk top wig but having problems locating one. I like the idea of ordering a designer or name brand wig so I can get matching colours in toppers or synthetics (for cheap to exercise in etc). Thanks for your help, I had no idea there were so many options in wig choices.

Also, is my concern with the monofilament top not looking as real as the silk top valid or are there some tricks to make the part look real? I still have hair on top so I'll have to line my part on my real hair up with the wig but I think the knots make it look kind of fake. Maybe I can just zig zag the part abut?

Hello, Most of the silk tops (French Top) are custom wigs and the big names do not really sell them. I have found that after my trip to China and wig factories for my daughter who developed AU that Monotops are very natural looking if they are a quality wig. The cap is very important to how it will look and feel on your head. The density is very important so you do not look like you are wearing a helment. The lace front is important especially if you do not wear bangs. The silk tops are really nice but at times are more difficult to part in my estimations.Since my daughter lost her hair I have spent years trying to figure out wig construction and the industry in and of itself. The quality of the hair is critical and I find that many wig manufactures are not as honest as I would like them to be especially for those with medical hair loss. I totally get the color issue you have but it is not all the difficult to match because of similarity of color rings in the industry, Now if you go for a more custom color like blondes can be then I agree it is harder to match a synthetic to a human hair color so you can change it up but look the same. My daughter wears the noriko Shilo Capaccino when she is working out or walking the dog and then the custom wigs that I have made for her though my find in China has made life so much easier. The pricing I am paying for her human hair european quality wigs is doable while other big name custom human hair wigs are not. I am very lucky to have found a company that is honest and does really care about the alopecia community and price points.

Again the quality of the mono top and how the hairs are installed are critical. Feel free to email me with wig questions all day long. It is my passion to help others on their quest for a quality natural looking wig. It actually helps me to help others so they do not make the same mistakes, costly mistakes that I have done in the past. My email is Georged5050@gmail.com

All my best to you and I am here if and when you need me. Lisa

Hi Lisa

I just sent you a friend request, I am going Monday to start looking at toppers.  I have a large bald patch on my crown and on the back of my head.  I am looking at human hair and am going to a place that specializes in Alopecia wigs.  Any tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated.  As of now I can still cover the areas but know that this could change quickly and I want to be prepared.

Thank You

Renee-Blinggal

Dear Renee,

Thank you for taking the time to write me. This is what I suggest in the way of questions for the salon.

Type of hair they sell, is it Asian hair, european hair or european quality?. What is the life span of the toppe?r. Do they suggest Monofilament top or french top?. What size do they suggest for you. How do they suggest attachment? What density do they suggest? Is it multidirectional for parting it? Is it cuticle hair? Is it single drawn or double drawn?  Is hair dyed? Is it virgin hair or Remy hair? The smarter you are when you go into the salon ,the better decisions you can make. Renee, my daughter has AU and I have spent over 5 years studying wigs and how they are constructed and now what to share my knowledge with others. Please take the time to read my post on Alopecia World regarding my trip to China to find the best factory possible. I flew 8,000 miles to Qingdao, China and spent two days looking at wig factories and then ordered 4 units. From 6 factories, I found the one that I wanted to be associated with. Do me a favor go shopping, ask questions and then come back to me and I can help you order one factory direct. I have cracked the code for wigs and toppers and need and want to share it with others that have Alopecia. I have come to accept my daughters condition because I have control over the hair she wants and needs to be confident and comfortable. My phone number is 310 291 0729 and email is Georged5050@gmail, please free to call me or email me anytime. I look forward to hearing from you and here to assist you in anyway I can. All my best Lisa

PS there is a lady on AW named Rose and she has developed a relationship with me and has been very happy.

Thank you Lisa

I am in Ventura county and am going to Hair Couture, have you heard of them?  The say it is human caucasian hair.  I have not lost enough hair that I need a topper yet so I do have time to do the research.  I have a 2x3" patch at my crown and another silver dollar size patch on the back of my head. From the reviews I have read they will dye it to match my hair.  I have attached a photo so you can see my bio hair. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Really? I found that the mono tops look much more fake than the silk top. They don't hide the knots well and since I haven't lost all of my hair they look silly on me. The silk top provides a much more realistic part and looks like the hair is growing out of my "fake" scalp. The knots are hidden and as long as you have a good base area I can part it anywhere. I do only change the part each time I wash it. The two silk tops I have were both custom made. I was just hoping to find them somewhere online to order. It looks like I'll have to make the drive out to A major city to get one.

K&C, Yes you are right that if you still have hair that a topper that is mono would look strange. I now understand why you would want a silk to go over the area missing hair. I would be glad to help you design a topper and help you purchase. I have sent a friend request to you.

Hi there I have just sent you an email I would love a reply from you thank you so much

Sent you a response back, thank you for reaching out to me. Lisa

lots of silk-tops here --

Google: gardeauxwigs

Check out Gardeaux Wigs. Gardeaux Wigs is on etsy.com, facebook.com, instagram.com, and YouTube. This lady from Santa Rosa, California, buys 100% human hair, high-quality wigs [mono-filament, lace front, silk-top, etc.] -- then she cuts and colors them. They all have “roots” and highlights/lowlights. Absolutely brilliant! She has all different prices -- but nobody knows it’s a wig! Beautiful!! Excellent reviews.

Hello!

Please let me now if you have any other questions or have not found a wig maker. I have been making custom wigs for myself and clients for years. I started for myself years ago in frustration for bad quality and extremely expensive wigs. I have dedicated myself to helping others and not charging a fortune to feel half way normal. I live in Northern California, but can ship, have payment plans and can work closely to have the perfect fit and security of wearing a good quality wig. Feel free to contact me anytime Haiselrue@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Liza

I really like beautiful designer things. And I think that creating amazing works is a real talent. Recently I found a source that can be quite helpful in these matters https://masterbundles.com/stock-content/There is a particularly large selection of stock content photos and images, and it can become an essential tool for every designer.
