Well, we had Miss O at another Dr the other day. He was all about covering it up..I wasn't pleased. I asked him what was the big deal? He said it can ruin her self esteem. I told him I want her to be happy with who she is.
He also suggested blood work to rule out thyroid..we may
He wants us to see the head of dermatology at NYU in the city WHO DOES NOT TAKE INSURANCE...yeah...NO
He said that the group we have been seeing is one of the best...so we will stick with them
He gave us several prescriptions for creams and suggested a pill and some other *Stronger* stuff....errr...no
She already says her hair is falling out ...as if it's no big thing. She isn't freaked about it at all...so we decided to leave it alone as the first Dr said and see where it goes for the next month or so. She already has a bit of regrowth so we'll see where we are at the end of July.

I don't think I would go back to that doctor. He did not seem to choose his words wisely and I would have left devastated if that was me. Don't be afraid to keep taking your daughter to a different doctor if you feel needed. I took Sam to 3 different ones and it was not until we met the 3rd that we found doctor who was willing to be more aggressively, but safe as well. I am so happy to have this doctor b/c Sam has most of her hair back now. And what is a pill of "stronger stuff" mean. We have to be careful with what we put in and on our kids bodies. It can affect their lives later if we are not cautious. I hope the regrowth is going well. What matters most is that your daughter is happy and okay with what is going on. As Sam told me recently, Alopecia is her normal. I am so lucky she has taken a great attitude about this condition.
