Scared and newly diagnosed with AA

Hi, I am new here. I am 46 years old and was diagnosed with AA last week. I have about 5 or 6 patches.Although it feels like I am losing hair all over my head. The doctor has started me on oral steriods and also the injections. I am very scared as I am losing a ton of hair. Some days are harder to cope than others. The worst for me is when I need to wash and brush my hair or a coworker has to pick a bunch of hair off my clothes.It is very emotional not knowing what the outcome will be. Am I going to lose so much that I need to start wig shopping? When is this gonna stop? Why me? These are just questions that I play in my mind over and over.

I live in the sacramento area so if anyone has any suggestions on a Doctor I should see, new medications or where to shop for hair pieces or wigs it would be very apprecitated.

Well, new friend, I live near you and know all the good doctors and wig shops. I have had this since 1963. Need an older sis? I am sending a "Friend Request:" let's talk!

thank you I could use a friend. I am really scared, I cry all the time. I actually live in roseville. I am seeing a derm in sacramento so if there is some other doctor you could suggest it would be great. Also I think I am going to need a topper, wig or hair piece soon. My hair loss seems very aggressive.Thanks

If you can wait until I am over my cold, I will go with you if you need support. I also just discovered a fun gal living between us who has great alopecia stories to tell. We could ALL start our own over-40 club!
