My name is Melissa and my 14 year old son, Jacob, was diagnosed at age 10 with AA. He's received steroid injections every 8-12 weeks for about 3 1/2 years and they stopped working. He would wax and wane with his hair loss and regrowth during that time. We tried a round of Prednisone last month, without success. He is devastated and we are having a hard time helping him, emotionally. He has been holding up fairly well over the years, but this last month he has had several breakdowns where he just starts crying. He has a great core group of friends who have been with him through this from the beginning. He has a girlfriend and he is very active in sports. I try to help him see the positives that he has, but just 2 days ago now, he has said he hates his life and has voiced wanting to drop out of his current sports.. Completely uncharacteristic ... Please please.. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you all, in advance..
