Hello!
I was diagnosed with AA when I was 3 years old & lost all of my hair. Didn't have any issues until I was 18 yrs old and had a quarter sized bald spot, I had
Cortisone steroid injections and was fine until.....now I am 31....I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was about 23 and started on Armour medication.... they ended up putting me on Synthroid when pregnant with first daughter and I am still on it because Dr says it's easier to manage dosage of this med however one of the side effects is HAIRLOSS!!!
After my first pregnancy I had normal pregnancy related hair thinning in the front area at the crown which grew back with no issue. After having my second baby (15 months later) my body started to hate me.... I breastfed and when my daughter turned 9 months old I started supplementing with formula but still mostly breastfed. My hair started falling out in clumps in the shower and still hasn't stopped 3 months later. I haven't lost it all yet but am not far from it. I have gone to dermatologist and had cortisone steroid treatments and she gave me a derma roller & verdesso cream. She also gave me a week supply of Medrol dosepak oral sterrhoid a couple months ago...She now wants to do PRP, had anyone had this treatment done???

My OBGYN just started me on the Nuva ring contraceptive, in hopes of helping me lose some weight as I have had a very tough time losing last 20-30 after having baby, leveling out my hormones, etc...hairloss is a side effect listed for this and most birth controls and I did notice a ton more loss right after starting this contraceptive. Coincidence? Is this truly a good idea for leveling me out? Should I be getting estrogen, testasterone, protesterone levels checked?? Help! I am new to this site & new to AA in later years. I feel alone, depressed and missed work this weekend ( I only work weekends). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! PS. My profile picture was taken last week, I did have a thin halo hairpiece in under my hair to thicken but one day later I started Nuva ring and hairloss became much worse....;(
