Hi everyone, I have the Gripper and love it, still looking wonderful after a year. One thing I have noticed is that the lace top netting shows at the part. Does anyone have a quick fix for this?? I'm sure a few strands have come out from that area, but it doesn't look like a large part really. I have actually lost very little hair from it and I wash it once a week. Wanting to know if any clever person out there has a trick with this little dilema.

Hair can be reventilated into the part. It is a simple process but you must use the right needle to get only 1 hair at a time.

Really tired of the debates between Follea and Freedom. I have seen large bald spots in Freedom wigs also that were not that old. It is one challenge all systems face. This may be resolved in the future, but today it is an issue with all systems.

Hi Chris, I think I do need to have some hair added to the part area, is that what you meant by reventilated?? My piece still looks wonderful after a year, I'm planning on getting another so will not be "hairless" I'm assuming I will be without my wig for the refurbishing. I agree with you Chris for hair, the debate has been tiring, this is my first quality wig having only bought a good synthetic one, I dont have experience with others personally, but I did take time with my decision, I considered the freedoms first, but although I don't have any bio hair left on my head I have those white alopecia hairs all over it, so I would have to be committed to shaving my head all the time, instead of buzzing it off. I was also concerned a out heat. We all make our decisions based on many factors these were mine. Thank you.

Yes, ventilating is tying hair into the system. I have found that it only takes a few hairs to make a difference. I would think that whoever you bought the piece from either can do this or knows of a local ventilator. If it is just the part area I can do this is about an hour, so if you find someone there you should be able to arrange to sit and wait, or like you said get another piece so you don't have to go without hair. I find that if a client has 2 systems it takes pressure off me also if I have to clean/repair and I can do a better job than if I have to work on the piece while they wait.

Hi Chris,
This may sound stupid, but what about color? Do they use hair from the piece itself? Just doing my usual over thinking here, and fretting. Lol I just imagined hair in the Part that didn't match in color or texture. I'm so glad I can get it fixed:) I did buy from a salon so I will contact them. Wish I could go to you! Thank you.

No, it isn't stupid, usually a ventilator will have on hand several colors or it can be ordered in small amounts. Also, you would be surprised at how easily off colors can blend and even enhance the original color. And, they can always use a bit lighter and demi color it to match if necessary. Nothing to worry about.

Hi

I don't think Christine would have any intention of wearing a Freedom Wig...I have no idea why you would put a comment about Freedom here....As usual I totally disagree with your opinion. Most Freedom wearers do not find them hot...but as I have passed on to you before your heat problems could be a myriad of issues... you don't seem to want to pass on your name or who your Freedom Independent Agent is Bronx, to enable them to help you. So, I guess the comments continue.

If Christine was looking at changing I just noticed the Haircoat ad here..their wigs look to have so many different net/silicone type bases and they use Virgin human hair, they don't look dissimilar to the Follea stable of wigs except virgin hair by the looks of things, net based/silicone/virgin hair...another good alternative for the net/silicone combination wigs that are already available.

Hi Rosy,
I didn't see the post from someone "bronx" and I'm glad I didn't, maybe it got deleted? I actually would very much consider the freedoms, but I have so much "hair" I know that sounds weird as my doctor considers me AU! I would have to shave my head perhaps when in the future I lose these crazy hairs I will get a freedom, I think if heat were a problem, I could always wear something different in the hot months. I have the gripper cool and it allows a breeze through. Sorry if someone on here was mean...we should all be kind.

Hello Chris:

I am new to Alopeica World and have also started the learning process of ventilating this weekend.  I found out that I could repair some of my old wigs myself by reading all the blogs.  Luckily, my wigs are not wrecked, they just got a bit too thin from the shedding. The lace is still in good condition and there is a lot of hair on the piece.

When I finish ventilating, will my wig be as good as new?  I would hate to go through this time consuming process and be disappointed with the results. Any feedback would be great.  Thanks in advance.

P.S.  I did my first double knot yesturday :)

Ho Roxy, I sent you a friend invite, but will also answer here. I will say that good ventilating takes time and practice, but many pieces can be restored if one has the touch. It has taken e several years to be able to tie one hair at a time, but I find that is only necessary in areas where there is a part or hairline.

I use both reading glasses and a magnifying glass to be able to see clearly that I am only picking up hair that I need, then after I have finished the process I use fray check or another bonder to be sure the knots don't slip.

P.s. I never use double knots as they show too much, the fray check works as well as a double knot to hold the hair in place.

Good luck!

Hi Christine

That is strange...I replied to a comment that was here by Bronx, but I see a lot of her messages have gone missing. I truly don't know why. She wasn't mean, she just had an opinion that my personal knowledge did not agree with and that's ok. I really wanted to try and help her as I was worried that something was not right with her Freedom Hair. I'd asked for info to help on a few occasions, but nothing was forthcoming.

I hope you fully understand that I support your hair choice and that is definately not an issue for me.

If you ever decide a Freedom Wig is a choice that may help then feel free to contact one of the USA Independent Agents. (They're a fab group of people).

I think you have made a choice with your hair that absolutely suits your needs at the moment and that is how it should be. :)
