I have personally never tried Joseph Paris wigs. I am a huge fan of Gabor wigs and Noriko wigs. They are synthetic wigs and look very natural. I've gotten so many compliments and no one ever knows it's a wig. They are very affordable.

Thank you, I will check them out!
Hi Erin, thank you so much for your reply. I schedule an appointment with JP. I leave out side NY. Did you have to go to NYC for all appointments? I currently wear a Wig Pro. But it is about to break and. I am desperately looking for another solution that is more natural. May I asked how much did you pay for yours? And how much are repairs? A year is not very long, so I am wondering if I can really afford them :(

Joseph Paris wigs are Asian hair, I believe. If you have very dark, or black hair they would be okay but if you are blonde or light brown, they hair must be processed. This damages the hair and it gets dry and loses its color.

I am not sure how much JP wigs are, but you can get beautiful European virgin hair -- totally unprocessed -- from Brenda Kay. She is here in Portland, but works with people all over the country, and does work for the Hollywood crowd too. They are beautiful! And she guarantees satisfacton. I have a full lace from 2006 that I still wear and the hair is like new. Her full lace European hair is around $3K. I believe she also can do the wefted wigs which are fine if you have hair (since sometimes scalp can show through the wefts) for about half that. You can contact her at bkhspecialties@qwestoffice.net. Her phone number is 503-223-8092.

The wig I have on in this photo is one she had made for me two years ago.

I notice that Brenda Kay also has good info on how to wash wigs-both synthetic and human hair.

Hello Everyone,

It has been almost two years since I first posted this discussion. I purchased the wig from Joseph Paris. Unfortunately, I do not recommend it.  The hair piece costs me $2500 - synthetic hair (including taxes). I have thinning hair and the piece was to cover the upper section of my head.

Why was my experience poor?

- Timing: after Mr. Paris took measurements of my head and I submitted a $800 deposit, I was told that the wig would be ready within 6 weeks. It took 6 months to receive it.

- After speaking with Mr. Paris I decided to go for a synthetic wig because I was told that it would last longer. He said synthetic wigs lasts about 5 years in comparison to human hair which last 1 year. I decided to go for synthetic because of the price tag ($2500!). It was a decision I regret. The wig has very straight hair, my hair is wavy,  so the difference between my hair and the piece's hair is very noticeable.

- This is my first synthetic piece and I am not sure if this is a common problem with this type of hair but the hair tips are very damage, rough, freeze and they breaks easily.

- The biggest problem with this hair piece is that you can't move the hair around without showing some of the sewing and lace, so I can't make any changes to my hair style. It also does match my hair color.

- After Mr. Paris took the order, I was working with one of his assistants. She was very unprofessional, wouldn't return my calls, and was simply rude over the phone, she also mailed the wrong hair piece. I was told to mail it directly to the correct customer, so I had to spend my time correcting their mistakes and my piece was delayed.

In conclusion, I made a mistake by believing the pictures on his website were real, specially by believing that you could brush the hair to the back to show a natural hairline, be aware that this is not true. I also found Yelp reviews of people who encountered very similar experiences like the one I told today. Some of those comments are not there today, except for this one: http://www.yelp.com/biz/joseph-paris-naturally-new-york

I wish I had had more information about this business when I made the decision to purchase a wig from this place. This is why I am reporting on my experience.  I hope it helps you make an informed decision.

I also wouldn't recommend Joseph Paris wigs. I won't go into details though, because last time I did on this site, old JP threatened me with legal action. Just stay away from his bad attitude and overpriced, overhyped mops! If you really want one, I'll sell you the one I bought for 3K that's been sitting in my basement. $1.50 for anyone who wants it!
Do not buy from Joseph Paris. We use to buy from him for a few years and the quality for worse and worse. Staff is unprofessional and I later found out that the wigs they are selling for $3,000, they are buying for less that $200. Message me and I will give you the website. I'm so sorry you had that experience. It's bad enough we have to deal with hair loss but to deal with this on top of that is just too much.

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to let you know about my new purchase. After my terrible experience with Joseph Paris I found out about this blog, https://www.womenshairlossproject.com/  It is a really good space to share about our experiences.  The girl who started it wears Follea wigs and I was amazed by how real her wigs looks, you can find her videos here,  https://www.youtube.com/user/whlpnetwork

So I found a place near my house that sells Follea wigs. Their main salon is located in Beverly Hills but you can find distributors across the country and in other countries.  I purchased the Aero 8 inch hair piece and I am 100% satisfied!  Here are some pics, tell me what you think.

Also, I wanted to share that today I visited a place that offers PRP Therapy, which I am going to try next weekend. BTW, I had to take the hair piece off during the consultation and the front desk person didn't notice I was wearing a hair piece :)

I will get PRP therapy next Saturday. Supposedly, you see results within the next 3 months and you do about 2 more sessions. They said you may have to do one session each year, we will see.  I will report on the results.

BTW, my first language is not English, so I apologize before hand if I made any grammatical errors.
