Hello....yes what is the story with white hairs! Most of my bald patches have a bit of grey hair...so is that meant to be a good sign of regrowth? I am curious too!
Hi,don't think anyone has answers ?alopecia is so unpredictable!my consultant discharged me as nothing they can do!!!nhs heartless!!but I understand why also.thanks for your reply x

Hi, been through this for over ten years now, that was my pattern at first I would lose and then it would all grow back normal, then a new spot would appear, grow back, each time with me tho the spots got bigger, eventually I developed the Ophiasis pattern, where you lose all the undergrowth and then over time I began to grow those odd white hairs instead of regular hair. I wish I had a good answer about them, but I've been curious about them all this time too. when my hair was covering the bald/white areas the white hairs actually got as long as my bio hair, they never changed color like others have said theirs do, and when I colored my bio hair they would not color at all. weird right. I finially got so bad that I shaved what I had left of bio hair, and here's the really weird part, about 3 month after shaving what little normal hair I had it eventually all turned to those white hairs, I wear a wig always now, and have made peace with it, it's actually better than the roller coaster I was on with my hair for so long. When I was getting my hairpiece, the gal who was cutting it for me, said that those white hairs are like a scar that I'm still trying to grow a hair but the follicle is damage or under attack and what comes out is like a scar??? I know this sounds crazy but kinda makes sense, sometimes I have let the hair grow for awhile, just to see what it would be like, and to see if I could actually have hair again of my own, but white, but I always give in and buzz it off again, because I think it looks awful, kinda like a bald little old man (not a look I'm going for) lol. hopefully your AA will not progress the way mine has, and you may just have spots now and then. I'm not sure about those white hairs, sure wish more would chime in and offer us some truth about them.

Hi,sorry to hear it got worse for you..I've been suffering for 3 years now and it's not getting any better..I have wigs but have struggled getting acceptance around them..just invested in a human hair wig and it's much nicer.!to be honest I hate wearing wigs and just want my hair back..my long white streaks are ok but not changing colour..people think it's highlighted!lol..thanks for your reply and let's keep our chins up eh?xx
Another year later for me and white hairs have not changed in colour etc....just getting longer and quite thin in those patches! Not even sure if they can be coloured with hair dye or maybe not a good idea to use chemicals. Anyone else out there have the same feeling with this....certainly would love to hear
