I was diagnosed around october 2014 with alopecia,I been using Clobetasol Solution 0.05% and Rogaine for women, and nothing seems to be Help, The doctor was concerned because I have multiple bald spots, she told me normally the body realize that It's making a Mistake, but for me it's not and it's still attacking my hair, so she's recommending the injection and I hear positive and negative about this treatment, what are your thoughts on this treatment if you had it done.

Sorry to hear you had a bad reaction. My dermatologist says it may take up to a year for your body to reset, or more but don't lose hope mine has spontaneously grown back many times.

hi coni, I wanted to see how things have been for you since this post?: I was diagnosed in September last year and I see some growth after doing natural remedies and getting my health back.

No its a waste of time they don't work and even if they do the hair just falls right back out.

I first got kenalog injections for alopecia areata in July of 2011. Second round/occurrence in July of 2012. 3rd in October of 2012. 4th October 2014. 5th round started a few weeks ago. The kenalog has worked every time. The hair grows back within weeks and hasn't fallen out in the same places again for me. Having alopecia isn't something you dream of having, but there are solutions for it - that thankfully work for some of us :) Try anything and everything you can. The shots should be mildly uncomfortable; I get anywhere from 5-10 each time I go in, and I go in to see my dermatologist every two weeks when I have alopecia.

Just take deep breaths and know it will be over in 30 seconds :)

Hey Coni. I had cortisone injections into my scalp by a doctor who specialises in this treatment. Before i agreed to it, i did alot of research and even made contact with some of his otber patients whom it had been very successful on. He gave me quite strong doses as my patches were pretty bad and growing rapidly. Unfortunately i experienced no positive changes, in fact i developed a new patch on the top of my head 2 months later and few months later i was forced to wear a wig. I have been wearing one ever since. I was very disappointed as this had seemeed to work on so many people. I guess my point here is that alopecia is extremely unpredictable. What works for one doesnt work for others. Its just damn well hit and miss. It seems as though we have very few treatment options available to us and so i also wanted to try anything and everything, but for now im just greatful to have a wig. May whatever you try workout for the best! Do keep us posted.
