My daughters wig will be here next week...about 3 weeks before she starts 3rd grade.  She ended 2nd grade with hair and will be going into 3rd with almost full loss on her scalp and missing eyelashes on right eye.

I'm wondering how realistic it will be for her to want to wear her wig every day to school.  The weather can get quite warm here.  I just can't imagine an 8 yr old running around, playing comfortably wearing a wig.  Thoughts??

What type of wig is it? A freedom wig or bonded-lace wig would might be best. A custom lace wig is the least hot and can be glued/taped on. I order my lace systems from HairDirect.com and they are a good company.

It's from Godiva's Secret wigs.  We shall see...it's not here yet.  But I really like the owners videos on youtube.  Made me feel for comfortable with the whole process

I started wearing wigs when I was 9, and misinformed kids can be cruel, I recommend talking to the teacher and explaining to the class what alopecia is. I don't think it's unrealistic at all for her to wear it everyday. Wigs are an accessory, and like any accessory she should have the choice when she feels comfortable wearing it. Maybe go to school with it, play and swim without it. It's up to her, as long as she's comfortable. If she wants to wear it when she's running around, I recommend a headband, because even the best custom fit wigs will move when you sweat. I hope that helps!
Mine wore one in 3rd grade. It is realistic not easy but was best for us.
