Is it hereditary?
My sister lost her hair 2 years ago shes 34 I ve just turned 40 which I think should come with a health warning and in the last 5 months am going through the stage of losing mine is it hereditary is it because we both drink coffee or live near a nationsl gride ?

Yes, It may be hereditary if it was in your family history, but may be due to some other reasons so you should consult a good hair specialist for this.

I was prescribed 210 mg which just made me constipated having a cold at moment has made me loss more hair and shooting head aches but ill live to tell the tale

I agree with Georgia and Aimee, alopecia is an auto-immune condition and has been known to run in families. I have known of people with alopecia whose siblings and/or parents have had the condition as well. That said, it usually doesn't show up multiple times in a family. I am the only person in my family -- and in my family history -- that has contracted alopecia. I haven't done any far-reaching research on my family tree but I think I'm the only one to have experienced hair loss. I have alopecia universalis and I believe I'm the only one in my family to have ever had this degree of hair loss. However, there are others in my family with auto-immune diseases so maybe there is a connection there.
If your sister has alopecia and you've also noticed some significant hair loss, there's a possibility you may be experiencing some degree of alopecia (like others here, I don't think there is a connection to coffee-drinking or where you live). It's probably a good idea to have it checked out and tell your doctor (or dermatologist) about your sister's hair loss.

my dads family has no history and my mums family cut of from us when she did nearly 30 yrs ago

Have u been to dermatologist yet I believe he or she are the only ones that can do the autoimmune tests ive waited for 4 months for my appointment which is next week

Yes I think it is my mum lost hers when she was 9 years old and didn't have any for over a year, however hers did grow back and she kept it and still has lots at 83 years old
My little sister was only 17 and lost hers and had none for 2 years she had PUVA treatment at 19 and it grew back, however at 49years old now it has started to shed again in patches.
I lost mine in my 50's i went nearly a year without, it grew back with PUVA treatment but only stayed 2 months then fell out again I have been completely bald again for 2 years nothing worked. I have just regrown most of it but since boxing day it has started to shed again and I'm losing it faster than before. I don't understand why I cannot keep mine when my mum and sister got theirs back I guess its the luck of the draw

Oh babe ur the first person I know who can say its hereditary its nice to hear your story even though your family have been through a traumatic experience here in the UK I think we are so behind with treatment s I yhink more needs to be done in advertising as me and my sister experience it others dont understand it thank u for sharing your story with me and please keep me up to date happy new year babe and may our hair grow back as thick as your mums :@)
