I want to go bald completly on the weekend and my away from work time.

I dont mind wearing wigs to work because I am customer service and i deal with atleast 50 people a day and 85% new faces ... with that said i want to wear a wig until i am comfortable in public. BUT i do want to wear one on my off time .. Weekends and after work... HOW DO I DO THIS. I do not drive I take the train and bus every where.AND I live in a 24 story building, people have seen me with wigs and scarf only. How do i just GO BALD after having a routine of wearing wigs in public? I am not worried about friends, co-works or church because I bodly told all of them showed pictures of myself and slept bald at a church retreat. I did this once to have freedom but now i want to make it a routine. Help :)

Hi Sam Sam! Do this on your own terms, at whatever pace works for you. As you're already exploring, you get to choose each day, in each situation, what you do. If folks saw you with a scarf and gave it any thought, they probably already guessed you have little or no hair. Different wigs may have given the same clue. For me, it helped to remember that my head is not the center of the universe. Any person I encounter is less likely to be pondering the state of my scalp than thinking about
why did my boss say that, or
how do I look, or
what should I do about dinner, or
how can I pay for that, or
how can I care for my sick loved one, or
I miss him, or
isn't the sky pretty today, or
politics, or
does that new woman like me, or
wow, that woman (me) looks confident.
Lots of people change their hairstyle, including color, & it's rare to have that freak anyone out. I honestly didn't notice random neighbors or acquaintances having trouble accepting my changes in appearance. Upon rare occasion they asked, similar to now when I go bald or scarfed all the time. Complete strangers seem most likely to bring it up to me. On my job where I wore a wig only when I was meeting the public, I kept an extra wig in my desk just in case my work changed or I forgot to bring one.
Thank you love it! Your right I must take it at my own pace and I will. I do know I want to wear a wig when going to a church gathering outside of the church. Or when I go to my daughters school (for her sake of ). SO I like the idea that you a spare wig with you. Do you not feel ashamed to pull it out and put it on? I love that you can do this when you need to. I need to take steps.
What's to feel ashamed about? It's not so different from fixing your hair or your lipstick in front of someone. If it is for them, then they get a story to tell someone else. If you want privacy, you can always put it on or off in a bathroom stall. Either way, you do look beautiful.
THANK YOU LISA!!!!
Hi Sam Sam! First I'd like to say that you are beautiful! Baldness suits you so well!

I know exactly how you feel! I shaved 4 weeks ago and wear a wig to work every day...no one here knows about my alopecia. At home I am bald, but in public I wear my wig. Even though it's only been 4 weeks, I am beginning to hate wearing the wig, I feel like a phony and it is starting to bug me.

I think baby steps are needed, start out by going to check the mail bald, then to the store. Keep a scarf in your pocket in case you change your mind while you are out. Pretty soon, it'll be no big deal.

Hold your head high and let your confidence shine through!
Thanks Jenna!!! I thought maybe I could take the trash to the hopper, then if I’m comfortable maybe go to the store without a wig. If I can have the support of my friends I would like to just go out to the mall and to eat to see reactions. A few months back I took of my hat to take these pictures outside it was very FREEING!! The sun and wind on my scalp :) was relaxing. If i go to my sisters house or to a church retreat i can walk around the house/hotel room bald (then i think soo what everyone knows i am bald). Hopeful the worl will know soon.
Thank you for your support! I have decided to go to church completly bald I Am going to take my scarf off once I get off the train! I never sat in service bald! And as a Minister oif God maybe I can encourage someone to be strong in their life! I am coming closer to acceptance!
