How can I relax with being bald?

For about a year now I've had no hair and I wear a wig. When I go to bed I have to wear a hat because I feel too uncomfortable. But the thing is I don't let anyone see me bald, not even my family. I'm always worried my wig might fall off in public. How can I get a handle on this?
