Hi Everyone,

I am new to this website :)

I am just wanting a little bit of product advice regarding tape or glue for a standard lace front wig (Jon Renau Zara)

I have been wearing wigs now for about 2 years as I am gradually loosing my natural hair, which is now at the point where it is very thin.

Normally I wear the Jon Renau Zara wig as it looks very much like my own hair used to. None of my friends know that I wear a wig but my problem has been recently as I was asked to be a bridesmaid for one of my best friends. In a few months time I am expected to attend her bachelorette party which includes quite a lot of high impact activities including  a jet boat ride, and other outdoor activities. so as you can imagine I am very worried about my wig slipping back at the front or worse flying off altogether!

This is the first time where I feel limited by my hair loss. My wig fits me very well and I do wear a wig grip underneath but due to the nature of the events she has planned I thought if I could get a tape or glue to just secure down the front lace area it would have quite a bit more hold. I also intend to pin the wig to the little bit of bio hair that I have underneath which should offer a little bit of extra support too.

So I have been researching tape and glue adhesives but I am just so incredibly lost as to what would be suitable for my situation as I do take my wig off every night and I don't want something that will ruin the lace or goo it up requiring cleaning asap (as we are going to be away for two nights with this event so I don't think I will get a chance to wash the wig until I am back at home after the two nights away).

Have any of you had any experience with tapes or glues and can you offer any product advice for my situation?

Sorry if my question is silly, it might just be impossible to join in on the events she has planned but I thought I would put the question out there to see if anyone has any advice :)

I use Supertape with Davlyn Green waterproof adhesive and Walker Ultra Scalp protector. The Supertape cleans up very easily and doesn't break down so it keeps the lace clean. I sleep in my wig, but this set up gives me very secure hold. I put a layer of the scalp protector on and let it dry (it goes directly on the scalp), then apply a thin layer of the Davlyn Green Waterproof adhesive with a popsicle stick. I wait three minutes, then put the tape on top of that, and then attach the unit. The thing is you cannot get your unit wet for 24-48 hours so that it has time to cure and set. This could be good for you in that you won't have to worry about taking the wig off and on for two days or worry about other people on the trip seeing you without your hair. What I would do is wash the wig and make sure it's completely dry, and then do the attachment. HTH!
