I first discovered my hair loss (in the ophiasis pattern) about six weeks ago and will be having my first dermatology appointment in another three. My scalp has been super itchy and burny but in the last couple of days I've also noticed my head hurts in various places. Not just the scalp but my actual head, almost as if it was bruised or swollen. Even lightly touching it in certain areas I feel a certain amount of pain. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it from inflammation? Right now the only treatment I'm using is topical betaderm but my head hurts even in areas where I'm not applying it.

Yes , I have also felt this. Feels like I have a bruise on the area. Also feels like tightening of the skin.

Yes, I get the tightness too! It's almost the same sensation as if your hair was caught in a zipper, like it's being pulled. At least, that's how it feels to me. Is this from inflammation, does anyone know?

Yes I have noticed this too - some days worse than others. Really not sure what it's from :S

I have experienced this too.  At first I thought it was from the corticosteroid shots, but I stopped getting them a few months ago and I still have head pain.  I'm not really sure why this happens

Hello,

My hair loss seems to have stopped. My scalp didn't hurt when my hair was falling out but now it does. I'm hoping this is a sign of regrowth. Has anyone experienced a sore scalp before new growth?

Except for one incident where I lost a HUGE clump on my brush at the start of January I didn't notice when my hair was falling out. It burned when I was getting my hair dyed in mid-December but other than that I felt no soreness either. Not positive whether I'm still losing it or not. On the days I count I think maybe about 80 strands are being shredded but my scalp is always uncomfortable in one way or another now. I can see some really fine weird little baby hairs coming in in parts of the bald area, but not all of it.
