Ok so my 17 year old went on 5mg 2x a day back in April 3016, he had amazing results and after 6 months Doc lowered dosage to 5mg once a day. His hair had all grown out and he had originally started out with more than half his head bald. With 2 months on 1 pill he started getting spots again. He got steroid injections and also increased dose back 2 pills a day. Unfortunately it's only getting worse. Now he has a few big and spreading spots but also a ton of smaller spots all over his head. I'm hoping to see his Doc this week. Wondering if bumping him up to 3 pills a day would help. Just frustrated cause he initially had such good results on 2 pills a day. Now all the $ spent out of pocket is literally washing down the drain. has anyone had this happen and if so were you able to fix or turn around the situation??? Any help would help!!!

It seems that with the lower dose his AA  gets the best of him. It is no surprise that lowering the dose caused him to regress, as far as hair growth goes. I would tell the doctor that you want the dose to go up for your son and to be sure he has his blood tests regularly to be sure there are no internal problems with his increase in Xelijaz. You need to give that a try. Your situation has not happened to my daughter, she is on 3 5mg per day and there is good growth, but not all over growth. She has been on it 5 months.
