Hi everyone! I hope everyone has been doing well!

I wanted to start a discussion about having gaps in eyelashes do to Alopecia Areata. Recently my Alopecia seems to be targeting the lashes that are on top of my left eye, and I now have a fairly noticable gap in my lashes near the center of my eye. I feel like it looks really weird, and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and has any advice about how to make it look less awkward.

I have tried applying false lashes, but I'm pretty bad at it.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Hello,

When I was young, I filled this gap by putting eye liner on, carefully, don't use a hard one. I often passed the pencil across the flame of my lighter, wait a second and use it. If your on Thyroid medicine, don't change brands, it could do worse. False lashes has glue, and if your losing yours, it could pull the delicate hairs out even more. At least with eyeliner, we tend to imply the lash.

I'm dealing with the same thing and have watched a lot of You Tube videos and also practiced at times when I'm not going somewhere, so there is no pressure.  Make sure you're letting the glue try a little bit before placing the lash strip.  Using a toothpick to help get it into place also helps my technique.
