Hello to everyone in the community here!

I'm a new member, recently confirmed with a diagnosis of frontal fibrosing alopecia. (We suspected that this was the case about 6 months ago, and I had a biopsy done to confirm the suspicion, but I just yesterday saw an expert on this condition who confirmed the specific version of the disease.) At the moment I'm a little overwhelmed by the prognosis and the lack of information as to cause....  and I'm trying to wade through the proposed treatment plan provided by the doctor.

Has anyone taken finasteride as part of a treatment plan? Initially the risks outlined seemed too significant (increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer), but there seems to be little discussion around it. The doctor has also prescribed protopic ointment and OTC Rogaine.  I'm mostly concerned about the finasteride, particularly since I'm still younger (40) than the minimum age for prescribing (50).

I'll be reading through your discussions and blogs over the next few weeks!  Thanks in advance for the guidance and support!

Hello Rebecca,

I can be short about Finasterine. Don't! They only tested this product on men. It gives you a lot of side effects.
