Flat Smaller Head low hair line and widows peak having trouble fitting wig please help

Hi everyone,

I finally accepted that my hair is slowly leaving me for good.  I started rogaine a month ago and my hair is thinned a lot since so i decided to order a wig and made peace with the idea of wearing one and having fun new Hair whenever I want it.  If my bio hair gets better awesome if not I’ll have my wigs!  I ordered a “Jewish style wig”. I actually ordered 2 because I wasn’t sure what size I’d be.  I already knew I was probably going to have to pluck what’s left of a widows peak out to get a natural look since imy hairline is to thin to blend and my forehead is to small to pull it down to cover the widows peak. Plucking my widows peak is going to leave me with a white V on my forehead since the skin under there is much lighter than my face.  I was a bit bummed about that but I figured it would eventually get some sun and blend in but for the time being I’d just out some makeup there.

All day I anxiously awaited my package.  I couldn’t wait to get my new hair and see what it would look like.  The wigs were beautiful and a lot more density than I’ve ever had with my bio hair..maybe a bit to thick for me even.   My excitement quickly came to a halt when I plopped them on my head and realized that the small was riding up and slipping back because it’s to small I guess and the medium I could park a Cadillac in the space between the Wig cap and my crown area.  There was a ton of extra space where my head kind of goes flat.  I’m so depressed over this. I finally get okay with the idea of a wig,  then I realize my hair line is going to be an issue move past that and then this.  I can’t even wear one because of my head shape.  I’ve spent the better part of the day crying.  I’m so upset.  What will I do in 5 years when I am even thinner than I am

now....how will I ever feel beautiful.  I was super excited to finally have gorgoise Hair even if it wasn’t actually mine.

has anyone had issues with head shaped and getting a wig ?

I need some

advice and encouragement

thank you

Hi Laylasmom321,

Do you have a local stylist that you are working with?  A stylist can help you with the challenges you are having with your wigs. They can also make a custom mold of your head for future wigs to insure a better fit.  Your wig vendor may have a list of local stylists in your area who can assist you.

It's a bit challenging when new to wigs to do it without the support of a stylist.  Once you are more familiar with the process it gets easier but it is always nice to have a supportive, skilled stylist on your team as you navigate your hair wearing journey.

I hope that helps! :-)

Most wigs can be adjusted to fit your head better if they are too large. Sometimes one that is too small can be stretched. You do need the help of a qualified professional, that knows wig caps and can sew. Hard to find these days.

Hi Laylasmom321,

I can imagine how disappointed you were to have waited for your wig, and then have it come to a screeching halt when it didn't fit properly, and feeling like you were at a loss of what to do. It's already a challenge to come to the realization and acceptance that you may not ever grow your hair back let alone be faced with possibly wearing a wig just to feel better about your situation, and then not get what you'd hoped for in terms of a wig?

Shopping in person for a wig is always best, however, these days, you can find some beautiful wigs online that you may not see in a brick-and-mortar wig shop. And it's certainly challenging to find a stylist that can help you with fitting and styling.

My advice is to become a DIY (do-it-yourself) Queen!

Learn how to measure your head circumference so that you can purchase the perfect size wig for your head and shape. Youtube has plenty of videos and tutorials on how to pluck, color and style your new wig(s). The challenge is finding the right one or two or three that you feel will complement your face.

If wearing wigs will be part of your lifestyle from now on, my recommendation will be to purchase a less expensive, but beautiful synthetic wig(s) to wear on an everyday basis and then purchase a higher quality or premium wig for your outings and special occasions etc.

I am glad to share a site that has these type wigs. https://beautifulhairproducts.com/collections/new-arrivals

I hope this helps you Laylasmom321.

Please free to reach out to me if I can be of any more help.

Peace.
