Hi all! I've been experiencing AA since Nov '13. I've always had very thick curly hair and thank goodness too, since despite all the hair loss I've been able to so far keep my hair and try to cover the spots (although I did just buy a wig due to what I'm about to ask...) I know that AA is known for the exclamation point hairs around the edges of the bald spots, but has anyone experienced exclamation point hairs all through their hair that's still intact? Basically, if where ever there's hair, there's little pointy hairs that actually hurt when pressed on from being so pointy! Does that mean I can expect my bald area (because we're wayyyyy past spots and well on to majority) to extend up into the rest of my hair?

Also, on a separate note, I have some regrowth due to steroid shots! But only exactly where I got the shots and it atrophied the skin :/ I also have an experimental spot of DNCB placed a few weeks ago to see if I respond well. I can update if you'd like!

Hi

In my experience with my daughter ....she also had exclamation hairs all over her head.  She did go on to have alopecia totalis, Universalis.

I am not a doctor, but would think you may be moving towards more extensive hairloss.  But do remember nothing is absolute with alopecia.  This condition does what it wants when it wants to with very little input from you.

If I can be of any support feel free to contac me.

Hey there, I was wondering the same thing. How has your hair been since your post if you don't mind me asking?

Hope all is well x

Yes I have yep I know exactly what you're talking about.

Sorry,I probably didn't make myself clear... Does extensive exclamation points all over result in eventual total hair loss?
