I took my daughter to see her pediatrician, for a bald spot on her head. She is 8.  He took a quick look and said it was Alopecia and referred us to a Dermatologist at St. Louis Childrens Hospital.  I am just concerned because shouldn't he of run some blood work to make sure there is no obvious underlying cause?  I questioned it and he said no because it looked like the hair follicles were completely gone.  We can't get into the specialist until August and I am not sure how I can go about getting a second opinion or if I should be patient and wait?

Yes very true

I got my daughters appointment moved up to tues May 26th with the Derm who is suppose to be the best in town for Alopecia through the children hospital. We were having to wait till august. I guess we will see how that goes and go from there!

So glad your prayers were answered! Hopefully you can start to get some answers.

We got in to see the specialist and she tested my daugthers Thyroid and CBC and everything came back normal.  Guess I will try harder to find a natural doc.

Well I'm glad these things are ok there- then there's hope -once you see a naturapath dr he can direct you and her hair will come back. Our sons hair on his head is coming back and we noticed in the sun yesterday that he's also getting his hair back on his legs and arms! So incredible that a change in diet and all his supplements are bringing back his health and therefore his hair!!! Keep looking for answers- it will be worth it!
