Hi there! My name is Allison. I'm new here! I am so happy to find a place to relate to others! Nice to meet you!

A quick story:

In December of 2013, I put extensions in my thick but fine hair. I trusted the stylist (I had no reason not to at that point), and she incorrectly put the extensions in my hair. I immediately felt discomfort. The extensions began pulling my natural hair out the very next day. I contacted the stylist immediately and she said she was booked for the next 7 weeks. For those long, painful weeks, I watched in horror as my hair fell to the floor. Eventually, I was able to have them removed by another professional. Needless to say, she was horrified by the damage and balding.

Long story short, every dermatologist at the time told me to just "wait it out." "The hair will grow back," they told me. "You're young, don't worry." At the time, I had just turned 24.

It's been over a year and there has been no regrowth. My hair follicles refuse to grow new hair. Shampoos? Supplements? Weird nutritional concontions? I've tried it all with no luck.

A new dermatologist who specializes in hair regrowth has suggested cortisone shots to stimulate new hair growth. I'm hopeful, but skeptical. Has anybody here had success with cortisone shots? I voiced my concern about some of the noted side effects. The dermatologist did not seem too concerned about them being a side effect of my treatment regimen.

Thank you all in advance. And again, nice to meet you!

Hi Allison!

To start off; thank you so much for the compliment on my picture, that was very sweet of you :)

I am 23, turning 24 years young in June so we were only months apart in age when we both were diagnosed with alopecia. I would love to chat with you about your situation! I'm not doctor and I don't use modern medicine, but what I am doing naturally has been working for me. If you're on Instagram, you should definitely contact me on there! My username is rebeccasuelin

Looking forward to talking to you!
