After much thought again last night I would be remiss if I did not help my fellow Alopecians draft a letter to make life easier in regards to contacting those the represent us in our own communities, state and DC. With the approval of Cheryl, Co-founder I hope that this letter can make a difference in our quest for support and eventually the cure for all of us.
Dear (Member of Congress)
As you and your colleagues begin work on modifying the healthcare system please remember the community of individuals impacted by Alopecia Areata. Primary, do not repeal the ACA without first preparing a replacement through stakeholder collaborations. There are also 4 patient protections that are absolutely essential to ensuring quality, affordable coverage remains accessible for these individuals ad their families:
*Prohibit pre-existin condition discrimination
*Prohibit lifetime and annual caps on insurance benefits
*Allow young adults to stay on family coverage until they are 26
*Limit out of pocket costs for patients
Thank you for your time and your consideration regarding this important request. Please respond to me with information on about how your are responding to my request.
Sincerely,
Your name and address
Do not be afraid to share your story and how alopecia has effected you or those you love. We must tell our story because if we do not nobody will. Tell them how more money needs to be given to medical research and that we depend on our government for this. Thanks to all of you for putting up with me and my passion not only to find the best products for those with Alopecia but to find the CURE.
