Hi, i wear human hair wigs and am in need of some new wig shampoo.

I try not to use non wig shampoo because of the sulphates and seems to wear them down faster or add too much buildup.

Just wondering, what is your favourite wig shampoo and conditioner?

I need something that really helps it from matting. thats my biggest problem.

Has anyone ever tried the Pure Care products from wigs.com?

I have tried La Gem Pearl shampoo and conditioner. Its pretty good, but I'm wondering if maybe there's something better out there.

thanks a lot!

Hello

What you use on your wig and hair really depends on how it is made (cap type) and what sort of human hair has been used to make it.

By your description I would think that you may have a conventional wig cap (lace/fabric) with possible wefts and handtied.  With these wigs more often than not processed human hair is used.  This means that some of the cuticle will have been removed so that manufacturing is able to be done more cost effectively.  It also means the end product (what you are wearing) will have problems with inversion(hair coming back through the cap), this means you need to be very careful when washing your hair.  Matting often occurs...as you have said, again you need to be very careful when washing.  If it is handknotted you also need to be careful that conditioner does not go up around those knots, if it does the knots will undo and shedding will occur.

There are particular shampoos and conditioners particularly made for processed human hair.  There are also coatings that are put on these wigs that settle down some of the problems...but not all.  Have a search here as I believe there is information on how to look after processed human hair wigs.  The other thing that I would highly recommend is talking with the company that you bought your wig from...they really should have recommendations and information for you around this.

Hope this all helps.

I've resurrected many human hair wigs using pure organic coconut oil...the same healthy saturated fat that I cook with.

yeah...la gem is really good, especially the shampoo but its just not quite moisturizing enough.

ELC Pure Olove Shamp and moisturizing Cond and Loreal sulfate-free evercreme conditioning masque.

Hi there, I have more than five wigs. I always used to buy the wigs flipside. But my wigs were not lookin the same as it used to look before than one of my friends suggested me to buy the moisturing shampoo from the online store. She explained me that she always used to wash her wigs with the shampoo and that's why her wings is still looking good. Therefore, recently I have purchased Moroccan oil shampoo moisture repair 8.5 from the Ehair Wig at http://www.ehairwig.com/index.php/hair-care/shampoo/moisturing-sham... . After using it my remy human hair wigs are looking shiny and natural.
