Anyone have any results with Minoxidil for a female with male pattern thinning?

I don't know where to start! I'm thinning right in the front of my head. Major anxiety over this and I'm taking all the right vitamins and doing all the normal things to prevent this. I've always had the most wonderful head of hair-my best feature so this is really hitting me hard. Very depressed. Help.

I'm sorry you are having a hard time.  I know how it is (I too am going through this).  I chose to use minoxidil despite reservations and can say that yes, it is working for me.  Before you begin you should read up on it and decide if you want to use it.

About Rogaine and my experience (female pattern baldness, moderate/severe diffuse thinning):

1) it takes awhile to notice it working (for me 2 months)

2) it didn't create any "new" hairs, but made each hair thicker and "deminiturized" some crazy small hair.

3) I've been told it can "freeze frame" hair loss

4) it's making me get major forehead wrinkles and eye wrinkles.  Very quickly.  Especially if I sleep after putting it in and I think not letting it dry. (this is pretty awful and I'm choosing between hair and skin)

5) If you stop you may lose existing hair....then some will regrow to the level you would be at had you not started. i.e it causes shedding and  you go back to original state (however the original state may be worse depending on how long you've used it)

Again, I'm sorry you are depressed.  If you are just noticing thinning, minoxidil may be your best friend.  Wishing you the best.

The only results were to my pocketbook. Not to my thinning hair from thyroid problems. This was about 5 yrs ago and I used women's minoxodil for 6-7 months with very minimal results. I then thought the mens version might work better. Mens is twice the strength as womens minoxodil and I found out the hard way that the extra strength causes (or can cause) heart problems in women. Constant palpatations made me stop its use immediately.

You might want to consider pin in bangs or a topper if the Rogain doesn't work.

And please remember that you are much more than your hair. You are a beautiful, vibrant person with much to offer the world.
