Does anyone have experience with Featherlite Wigs in Toronto? They look amazing but are pricey. They have a couple really nice looking blondes right now the pics are on Facebook. I am looking for a good quality HH in blonde that is not brassy or red. This learning curve is brutal!

Hi Bizzo,
I am the Freedom Wig rep for Toronto and Eastern Provinces. I have helped several clients in the area with the fitting and selection of their Freedom Wig and none have worn a Featherlite wig. The best hairpieces I saw on my clients coming in to order a Freedom Wig (I am biased but think Freedom Wigs look amazing plus they are custom fit and selected) came from Gabi's wigs, a salon in your area. These wigs were human hair and looked quite nice. Hope this helps a little?
Warm Wishes,
Jenn

Hi Jenn,
I don't actually live in Toronto, but have read several positive reviews of Featherlite and Isadore Sternhill. They sell online as well as in their salon and have a few wigs on ebay as well that look really nice. I am actually in Las Vegas and there are no suppliers of qualaity human hair that I have found. I have spent thousands while going through the hair loss process and I now must move from a topper/fall to a full wig. I am desperately trying to do my homework and not get taken advantage of when I make my next purchase. I agree freedom wigs look great but how would the silicon base be in the 115 degree Vegas heat? I work outside a lot so that is another challenge. Since I have to do this at a distance, I am considering Iwig, Matt Yeandle, and now Featherlite although they are the priciest. I have purchased several pieces from Flora which are fantastic, but her stock cap doesn't fit well and a custom is 5K. Given how hard I am on wigs, I don't know if that is the best option.

Mine wig is around 2 year old and it still looks awesome. i bought from https://shop.wigsbuy.com/

Hi Bizzo

I think it sometimes seems like the wild west when you are trying to understand wigs and your own needs from the features a wig may have.

So many opinions, so many choices. This isn't a bad thing as my opinion and Jen's are just that (Our opinions). Because Jen wears Freedom and I have a daughter who has worn them for the last 10 years I feel we do have insight into the product. I personally have a lot of knowledge on how they are constructed and how they work for people. (My personal experience over the years with my daughter has been invaluable and I have and do visit the Manufactuer in New Zealand where they are made on a regular basis)

Heat is often brought up in regards to wigs...because they are always hotter than no hair or your own growing hair as frustrating and uncomfortable as that is for all wearers. So, I understand your trepidation. The comparisons that go on are sometimes unhelpful so I will do my best to make you understand some of the pluses around the wig Jen and I know. (As I do help people in New Zealand with this choice of Wig).

The silicone cap on a Freedom Wig is designed to keep you as cool and comfortable as possible while giving the wearer security to live there lives as they wish (swimming, roller coastering, extreme windy weather conditions etc.) The hair will always look like your hair, there are no wefts or handtieng (the implantation is unique to Freedom).

Freedom wigs are totally customised and this helps with the ability of the silicone to keep you comfortable and secure, the silicone alone does not create the security for people - customised fit and silicone achieve this hand in hand. The cap acts like a second skin sitting as closely as possible to your head, because of the customised fit there is no insulating layers created. The cap is designed specifically for those with no hair or those willing to remove the hair they have. It is absolutely smooth. The cap is water vapour permeable, so it lets the water vapour passing through our skin (which is most of the perspiration) pass through the cap. It's waterproof, but vapour permeable making it comfortable in hot conditions. (This means that you can wash the interior without wetting the hair and when you do sweat, your hair remains dry- really the best of both worlds).

There really are varying consensus around heat and wigs...but in my experience with my daughter over the last 10 years (through High School, University and now getting ready to go into her first professional job), it has worked very well. New Zealand (where we live) can get very hot...maybe not like Las Vegas :)... but through the years my daughter has worn her wig she has been in many situations where outside was where she had to be (school etc.). She has always been comfortable in her wig, she wouldn't have worn it if she wasn't.:)

I'm not sure if this type of cap would work for you and your lifestyle, but I hope the information I've put here helps you understand what it is about. The technology around Freedom Vacuum wigs is sometimes not overly clear to people, the product has those that love it (me/Jenn) and those that don't. But in my experience and for thousands around the world this cap choice works very well.

Good luck with finding something that helps.

I actually don't think I find full-lace bases to be hotter than my own hair was. They are so breathable! If heat is an issue for someone I highly recommend this route!

Hi Bizzo,

I buy my HH wigs at Continental Hair in Toronto. They are AMAZING! Id recommend checking them out too.

Hi Bizzo- I think recently someone posted that Matt Yeadle sells Gemtress wigs. If you look on Lori's wigsite you will see that Gemtress (Impressions) has several cap styles in their non EHH and at least 2 in EHH-so maybe they are an option-I think their blond wigs look good and Miss Delaware wears one of the EHH.

Also, Milano wigs makes less expensive EHH wigs- and can do a custom sized cap for not too much more-they have a salon in Los Angeles - is that close enough. Gabi's wigs used to have an American distributor but not sure if they still do-I have seen some blond Gabi wigs that are slightly ash-maybe what you are looking for.

Have you seen this review of Featherlite on the askchavi blog
http://askchavi.blogspot.ca/2012/06/wig-review-featherlite-sheitel....

Hi Cathy,
Yes, it seems that Matt's wigs are Gemtress, only he is able to get custom caps I guess. I am trying to find someone to work with that has a decent return policy. I hate having to buy a $$$$ wig and just hope it's right. The Featherlite looks really nice, but you can't return only exchange so that makes me nervous. I have a very small oval shaped head and likely need a custom cap, so it makes things tough.

Milano and Follea have salons in L.A., not far at all so that might be an option. I just haven't read many positive things about Milano quality, and Follea is as much as a custom Flora but the hair doesn't look as nice.

I am having iwig and Fortune send me some pieces so I will update when they come in.

The Milano caps are not hand tied-they are wefts sewn on to stretch girdle at the back and the sides. The hair is very nice if you buy one of the ones that is labelled virgin EHH.(but then not likely to get a really light blond-for that you need the processed or colored hair But on some of their wigs the crown at the back does not seem to have enough density. If you were to order one of theirs, you should specify that you want more density there. Also, you can ask for a custom sized cap if you send them exact measurements. But I understand your concern about not being able to get a refund. I had a wig replaced because it did not arrive as specified-customer service was good and the replacement was very nice.

Follea has several grades of hair, but certainly their best virgin EHH is expensive.

Sounds like you need both a small circumference and also a narrow ear to ear measurement. I need a narrow wig but not a small circumference-hard to get except maybe if ordering a custom lace wig-they take such exact measurements . Would like to hear what you find out.

Bizzo - If what you want is the best hair I would go with featherlite. They have the best hair of any other place I have seen, and I am very picky. I have been wearing wigs for a long time.

Follea has some interesting caps, but I don't find the scalp to be natural at all and I'm not sure about the hair.

I would't even look anywhere else for blonde if you don't want "brassy". They never look natural to me.

Hairyissues,

Thanks for the reply. I did buy a wig from Featherlite as they do seem to have the best blondes. Isadore has been great to work with and the experience good so far. The cap is a little big for me so I may be sending it back to be resized, but she said this can be done at no charge. I really hope this is the solution I have been looking for.

How's the hair? It's nice right? I love featherlite.

I would really like to take a trip to Fllea and see thier high quality hair. I wonder if they have any new cap designs.
